Claw Will We, the seniors of Jefferson Township High School, Class of '57, having attained the superlative degree of learning from our most educated teachers, have had our character and reputation ripened until we have come to be known as the best manner- ed well-spoken class as yet to graduate- During our years at this beloved school, where the dearest and best are met, we have accumulated many items which we feel will do us no good on the outside - It is with deep reverence that we are giving these invaluable items to the remaining students and teachers- We sincerely hope that they will be cherished by all and used to bring about the maximum in pleasure and profit- We will and bequeath to the juniors the wonderful thrill and sense of accomplishrnent that can come only from cleaning up the gym after a ball game- To the microscopic- minded juniors we wish also to leave our ability of being the most highly educated of persons in this building- We will and bequeath to the sophomores, who have their own inimitable style of writing, any old bits of chewed-up pencils and eraser shavings they might have the good fortune to find. The sophomores will also receive from this most generous class a pile of dinner plates, which they are-to knock over daily, withoutbeing instructed to do so- We will and bequeath to the freshmen the freezer - Q To whom it may concern, this is the biology room-D .Because the freshmen have become so skillful in spending their biology period in the study hall, we leave to them our comfortable assembly seats- We will and bequeath to the teachers of ole J-T-H-S- an up-coming senior class into whose heads the educated teachers will have to pound knowledge- We would also like you to accept with our compliments a bottle of aspirin- I, Ruthie D-, will and bequeath my ability to be always dignified and sophisticated as a senior should be to Connie Rairigh- I, .Toe M-, will and bequeath my ability to fully understand physics and get a good grade without a full scale war to Sharon Wolfe- I, Ann R-, will and bequeath my ability to sing to Ben Prior- I, Tom B-, will and bequeath my ability to go to the library for long periods of time to Jane Eikenberry- I, Virginia S-, will and bequeath my ability to wear short hair to Linda Shilling- I, Alfred H-, will and bequeath my beaming face and broad shoulders to Ronnie Byrd-

Class History In the fall of 1953 twenty-three shy freshmen took our seats on the right side of the assembly. Included in our class were: Tom Brown, Paul Rody , Joe Miller, Alfred Hetzner, Chester Miller, Dick Awker, Ed Lesley, John Krisher, Barry Brauneller, David See, Ruth Dice, Ann Romine, Shirley Miller, Virginia Snyder, Loretta Smith, Etta Mae Houser, Dianna Rayment, Kloretta Sutton, Betty Taggart, Martha Shilling, Donna Yoder, Linda Clarkson, and Rosanna Kline. In January Robin Mensing entered the freshman class of J- T- H- S- , making our total twenty-four- Our class sponsor was Mr- Bob Hopper- For our first class party we attended a movie before going to Betty Taggart's house for refreshments- Our second class party was a picnic at the Peru City Park. At the beginning of our sophomore year we had twenty students. We entered school that year wiser and more eager to learn- But school was not all work. The first event of the year was the initiation of the freshmen- Although the sophomores got the worst end of it, we managed to survive to enjoy a class party at Riverside Park in Logansport. Our sponsor this year was Mr. Boyer. ' Our junior year still holds many fond memories. The highlight of the year was our play, Who's Crazy Now . Under the direction of our class sponsor, Miss Fisher, it was a big success- We also proved our ability as salesmen during this year. We had charge of concessions at the basketball games. For the final event of our junior year we escorted the seniors to The Oldenburg Inn at South Bend for the Junior-Senior Reception. Our theme was Disneyland- After th banquet we all enjoyed the movie, The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. At last we had become seniors with all the dignity and feeling of superiority that accompanies the position. The years had taken their toll so that only eleven of us were left- Even with a small class we did our part to uphold the traditions of a senior class of J- T- H- S, On March 8 we presented our play, Take It Easy , again showing our ability as actors and actresses- Upon becoming seniors our first thought was, of course, the senior trip- We spon- sored several money-making projects. Selling magazines and Stanley products were the first- Our most successful project was the Halloween carnival. On March 30, when we left on our senior trip for Washington, D- C-, and New York, N- Y-, we felt that we had reached our first goal- Our main goal was reached on May 10--GRADUATION Now our days at J- T- H- S- are over, and we are ready to go out into the world and really prove, as our motto states, LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT- 6
