Senior Class History In the fall of 1948 twenty-three shy Freshmen timidly entered the Jefferson Township High School and slipped quietly into the first vacant seats they came to. They were: Carole Benedict, Phyllis Butler, Marcia Carpenter, Mary Katherine Draper, Norman Fisher, Doris Fouts, Claris Guillaume, Maxine Kraning, Ronald Krieg, Mary McCutcheon, Freda Miller, Harold Richardson, Howard Richardson, Bob Romine, Roy See, Byron Swayer, Jerry Williams, Bill Yoder, Donna Turner, Don Cover, David Rozell, Bill Correll, and Myron Dillman. In spite of being so green we worked diligently and most of us made our credits. Although we lost Bill Correll, we gained Nancy Kenney and Raymond Flook. We survived the initiation, became adjusted to having no recesses, and learned where to go for classes. Most of the girls joined the Glee Club, and some joined the band. The boys found places for themselves on the softball, basketball, and track squads. Our class sponsor was Mrs. Mary Howard. For our one class party that year we had a wiener roast in the park and went to a show afterwards. Finishing our Freshman year, we entered our Sophomore year, wiser than before. Miss Mast was our sponsor that year and one of parties was an initiation party for the Freshmen. We enjoyed a movie and a chili supper at Floyd Fishers for our second party that year. During our Sophomore year, we gained in knowledge little by little. We considered ourselves quite intelligent when we could interpret some of the Latin language and draw geometry figures. At the end of this year we lost Donna Turner, Myron Dillman and Raymond Flook. Soon after we became Juniors, Don Cover quit school and Dave Rozell decided he preferred the Air Force instead of school. Miss Fisher was our sponsor this year. Our party for the year was a roller skating party at the Rock Lake Rollercade. Much of our spare time was spent in selling refreshments at all the home basketball games. This year we had the privilege of showing everyone our ability in acting. We presented the play, HGangway for Ghostsn in the third week in March. This play was claimed to be one of the best mystery plays ever presented for 6
