The standards she has set for us and the principles she has laid down have become an important part of our lives. She has given us a firm foundation in the fundamentals of edu- cation and has done much to prepare us to take our places as leaders of tomorrow. Because of her devoted service to Jef- ferson, her high ideals and her loving concern for us, we dedicate the 1978 Patriot to Mrs. Marilyn Norton. The road to success is not easy because ad- versity may strike at any time . Adversity makes it easy for the weak to quit, but it also makes the strong su-onger. This past season the Patriots were plagued with adversityg i.e, , lack of depth, injur- ies, etc. , but we never quit. We are now stronger in both body and spirit because we never gave up. All that week the students and teachers generated school spirit by participating in Pop the Rebels Day, Top the Rebels Day, Clash the Rebels Day, and Back the Patriots Day. The homecoming assembly was one with a ' 'Star Wars theme . PZTO and j7P7 took ns on a tour of the planet jefferson We were able to see robots playing football, Martians dancing the Cantina band performing along with other acts, and final- ly, the battle between the evil Rebel Empire, led by Barf Raider, and the jefferson Patriots, led by the Superior Star Chief. Naturally, the Patriots were victorious. One of the day's outstanding events was the crowning of Jef- fe1son's 1977 Homecoming Queen, Kathryn Norris. The Patriots achieved a victory over the England Rebels in the football game that night. The score was jefferson 22, Eng- land 14. After the football game , Gibraltar played for the homecom- ing dance . Truly, this was one of jefferson's most memorable home- comings in its history.
