All girls are urged to be- long if they are willing to live up to the Y.W.C.A. purpose. To build a fellowship of women and girls devoted to the task of realizing in our common life those ideals of personal and social living to which we are committed by our faith as Christians. In this endeavor we seek to understand Jesus, to share His love for all people, and to grow in the knowledge and love of God, and to follow the Y-Teen Goals. To grow as a person. Several of the members participated in the County Music Festival held in April. The boys who are members of the Vocational Agriculture class learn to be farmers of the future. The boys of this class form a club called the Future Farmers of America. These boys participate in different school activities. The F .F.A. boys won a gold medal in a parliamentary procedure contest at Bellport High School. One activity in which the boys participated was a chicken roast. There was also a pest hunt. The F.F.A. boys and some other students of West Jefferson High School wrote Soil Conservation Essays. The winners were Ray Cole, Bob Sanders, and JoAnn Mc- Dariiels. Awards were presented to the winners at Madison Rural High School. Each year the boys elect a chapter queen. The queen for this year is Jean Christ- man. The officers of the F.F.A. this year are: President, Bob Bidwellg Vice-President, Harry Campbell: Secretary, Bob Sandersg Treasurer, Eddie Hockenberry. The emblem of the Future Homemakers of America is octagonal in shape and bears the name of the organization, Future Homemakers of America. around the top of the plane while around the lower side of it is the motto, Toward New Horizons. In the center there is a house supported by two hands which symbolizes that the future homes of America are in the hands of its youth. The flower is a red rose. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The National Honor Society was organized in the early 1920's by the National Association of Secondary School Principals because they felt that there was a need for recognition of outstanding qualities in high school students. Our high school joined the group in 1952. When choosing members, four things are considered: Scholarship, Character, Leadership, and Service. Students who maintain this membership through their senior year are awarded pins bearing the insigna of the society. ' 42, Q xo Q' EST JEFFEBSO CLASS UNITED FTEB TEN YE The Deshler Hilton was the scene of a reunion for the class of 1955 They came from far and near ar riving in vehicles from a 1957 Dodge to a 1965 Cadillac and a private plane Among the first to arrive was Melvin McC1ask1e He flew in from Michigan where he is the manager of the General Motors plant He has been very busy trying to get into the big front office Nancy Harbage showed up a little later than most of the others Her old 1957 Dodge just wouldn t start Raymond Cole flew up from his ranch 1n Texas to Join us in the fun After the dinner he took us all for a ride Ill his 1965 Cadillac Everyone was glad to welcome the Reverend Robert Isaacs back into our group Most of you have probably heard of the wonderful work he is doing. It's very nice to know that one of our friends is devoting his life to the teachings of God. Nancy Morgan came to help us celebrate. She is a private sec- retary for a doctor in Dayton, Chic. Scott Stratton added some humor by telling about his radio and TV experiences. Bob Ridwell drove in in his 1965 Jaguar He s made quite abusmess out of selhng them For a hobby he has a small 300 acre farm which he is keepmg handy for his children The plane carrying Janet Jackson from New York was a little late She has been doing some modeling at Macy s Department Store The governor of Ohio let his sec retary Ester Burkitt have the day off because he knew she would like to be with us Donna Lowe who is the champion baton twirler of the U S drove into town this mornmg from Iowa She was quite happy to be back with all her friends Mr and Mrs Bob Crompton Beulah Stuckey were present also Beulah has taken time from her household duties to receive herB A Degree in college.
