I believe the 1968 Statesman is an excel- lent product of the Work of such people. The Statesman staff is to be highly com- mended. The l968 Statesman will serve as a remembrance of those that will leave us at the end of the year. As these fine people leave, new ones will come to fill the vacancies, but none can come to take their places. We shall miss each one. Best wishes for helath and happi- ness in the future. Mr. C. W. Earnest, Principal Foreword jefferson students are always at work learning here and learning thereg at schoolg at homeg and in the community. They are thoughtful yoruig men and women alive with the Vitality of youth and filled with the spirit of learning. The students anxiously look toward the future which is bright and full of promise for those with leadership, talent, and ability so needed in today's fast growing world. They are unafraid to face their goals and to work toward them, for they realize the importance of vigorous work and intelligent thinking and fore-sight in the world which will be theirs, They have been guided to success and feel confident that they can someday guide others . At jefferson they learn to thinkg away from school they learn to put their academic ideas and thoughts to work not only for now, but for the bright future which lies ahead. CLASSES X36 A Jefferson Freshman must stand proudly tall. He provides the leadership for the service clubs. He is the class and office aide. He is the team's captain. He is the idol of the seventh grader and the symbol of achievement to the eighth grader. He has justly earned this position over the past three years . The Freshman carries the most responsibility for keep- ing the Statesman name bright as he reaches outside of school and interacts with others. He reaches out of the teen-age image and begins to comprehend the adult view. He is the culmination of all that jefferson has to offer. In him lies our success as he continues his metamorphosis into an educated young adult. 72 7 ,J f W .w:r.y,a.m g SQ A, . -K rv , sa, .. . 4-, 3 ...Q , t , . ,1, W Q 2 l sv K base . . He has taken the first step toward becoming a Statesman and no longer identifies with an elementary school. He has accomplished the transition from child to teen. He smiles now at the fear of a few months ago. He has learned and grown and become confident. He eagerly wants to assume a more active role in service to his school while continuing his own education. 108 A zlfg nk' tj, .. .V LV . .,:: ,i- 15 5' .1-zfzs 5' ggi . - Q, - , . , as r 73. ,K 4- L if ii Q, , W.k,-- Q Aww- ' E. .3 Y idk? This yearbook puts into words and pictures what Statesmen are and what they did this year. Hard work has gone into the making of the Statesman yearbook and without the help of many people, it would have been impossible to put the Statesman into your hands . I would like to express my special thanks to Mrs. Rose Marie McNeely for her help and advice. Also, my thanks go to Brenda Smith, copy editor and to Suzanne Harrell, the layout editor for all their fine work. Robin Hamilton and all her class editors did excellent work on the class section. Whatever your favorite section of the yearbook, there was a special person responsible for it and because of the endless number of people who helped, it is impossible to mention them all ...... so a Big Thanks goes to all the yearbook staff. Statesmen are proud and spirited and enthusiastic in all their school work and wise and athletically gifted as well. Statesmen will always remember and be re- membered as jefferson Statesmen.
