THE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Nc doubt all of us approach the end of the school year with various feelings. We are concerned about the many things which have to be done before the school closes and wonder whether time will per- mit everything to be done properly. Some are concerned about their record for the past year and if the record doesn't represent their best effort, this would be the time for a firm re- solve to do better next year or to strengthen their background with a profitable summer program. It seems to me that we often fail to make the best use of our summers because of lack of planning. There are many attractive opportunities for the use of summer time such as traveling, summer school programs, day camp activities, and reading. This planning can still be done but it is better, of course, to plan earlier in the year. The school has an impossible task when it tries to cram all of the many worthwhile educa- tional activities into a school program of nine months and the summer time pro- vides an opportunity to supplement and enrich the school activities. The past year is pleasant to contemplate This issue of the Patriot records man of the events of the past year and indi- cates those who participated. The record of achievement in special fields is an imposing one but the finest part of the record is that which shows the progress made by the pupils in this school in their classroom activities. A word of thanks to the teachers for their patient and persistent efforts to do their best for their pupils is certainly appropriate at this time. Best wishes to our ninth graders as they go to the high school, and we hope that all of you will have a pleasant and profitable summer. John B.
