Jeffersonis election for the student government officers was held on November 3, 1967. This years officers were Vikki Johnson, President; Sharon Carlson, Vice President; Cathy Jansen, Secretary; and Bruce Schlee, Treasurer. Our schoolTs four officers are advised by Mr. Melvin to help enforce ideas to make Jefferson the best possible school. They'also give the elected homeroom students a place to meet, and they all con- tribute in suggesting ideas for the school. The main project of the Student Government this year was The All American City Project. Vikki Johnson, the president, was the head of this project. The students shown in the picture at the left are Young- American Winners. Out of 500 students, 30 were selected. Among them is John Hagney, the first person from Jefferson to receive this award. John was the 1966-67 Student Gov- ernment President. All of the students seemed to be sur- prised, for they didn,t know that they were going to be selected. The awards the stu- dents received were a medal and an Everett Dirksen record.
