Not present: Rusty Cordell, Gerald Strand, Mark Daughbaum, John Sulak. The Chess Club consists of approximately sixteen members sponsored by Mr. Birch. These students meet every Monday after school to im- prove their chess-playing ability. The president is Hans Grade while the vice-president is Susan Schult. The Chess Club had a tournament with Roose- velt on December 22nd in which Roosevelt won two games out of three. They also planned to have a rematch with Roosevelt and an all-school tournament among the junior high schools. How- ever, the dates for those events had not been set by press time.

For the eighth consecutive year Mr. Worrell is in charge of the SAGE PAGE, Jeffersonts school newspaper. This year the staff printed the Ninth Grade Directory, work sheets for some teachers, other booklets, and, of course, the SAGE PAGE. The twenty-eight students in the class learn about various kinds of writing, printing, and photography. They operate copy machines. Plate-making and finishing is part of the work, too. There was an advanced class first semester, but second semester the starting and advanced classes merged. This type of class has three purposes. They are - the school work learned, the machine work learned, and enjoyment.
