90 Student Government Officers John Hagney, president; Vicki Butterfield, vice president; Pat Lainson, secretary; Kent Dahlstrand, treasurer. The Student Government usually has a major project during the school year. This year it was tentaw tively decided to try to raise $1,000 for the Peace Corps toward equipping a needy area in Latin America. Therefore, much of the time was spent in a variety of fund-raising activities. The Student Government representatives meet each Tuesday under the guidance of Mr. Melvin. In the past, the Student Government has had two important standing committees. One was operating the lost and found. This has been abandoned, and the responsibility has been assumed by interested students who are not members of the Student Government. The major function of Student Government is probably to give the elected homeroom representatives a time and place to meet and express opinions and wishes of individuals and groups as they may help to make Jefferson the best school possible.
