Seventh grade girls must have one semester of cooking and one semester of sewing. In eighth and ninth grade, they are electives. 15

Metal Shop General Sh Woods paper , General Mr. Brown, as head of the Industrial Arts Department,supervises all the departmenths projects. Each year they have a mass production unit in which centerpieces are produced in large quantities and sold to Jefferson students. The various courses offered to the students are graphic arts, woods, metal working, general shop, electricity, power, and girls, and boys, drafting.

B.A. Head of Foreign Latin, General French, General Language Dept., Language, Language Spanish and Gen- Latin Club eral Language French, Spanish, and Latin, as well as general language, are taught at Jeffer- son. Last years French teacher, Mr. Hill, is now teaching at Auburn High School. This year we have Miss Snyder, who has taught at lycee de Sevres in Sevres, France, and at Highland School in Rockford. Most of the students are enrolled in French and Spanish,but many still take Latin. This year there are about three hundred and sixty students enrolled in the courses in foreign language. Mr. Geno Mr. Donald Mr. Steve Rinaldi Martinetti Showers State University Northern Illinois Illinois State of Iowa, MA. University, University, BS. Head of Com- M.S.Ed. Typing, General mercial Dept, Typing, General Business General Busi- Business, Junior ness, Typing Varsity Basket- ball Coach General Business and Typing are taught in the Commercial De- partment. General Business is designed to give the students knowledge about banking, credit, saving, and other business deala ings. Typing is a good course to take because once learned it is faster and neater than handwriting. This year Mrs. Runyan taught from September to November, then was replaced by Mr. Showers.
