Ninth Grade Officers Left to Right: President: jim Pierce, Vice President: Kris Hein, Secretary: Joyce Wicklund, Treasurer: Janis Finch. These are the ninth grade officers for 1963. In order to become officers, it was first necessary for them to obtain petitions from Mr. Gambrel, and to have them signed by twenty-five ninth grade students. Then a convention of delegates met on November 19 and chose two candidates for each office from among those who had submitted petitions. Campaigning was done on November 26 and 27, and November 28 was Election Day. - The president has charge of the 9-J program and activities involving it. He announces pro- grams and makes the presentation speech for the class gift, and performs other administrative duties. - The vice president is chairman of the decorations committee for the 9-J. She also acts as president when he is absent. The secretary is chairman of the refreshment committee for the 9-J. She also is in charge of correspondence and keeps minutes of all meetings. The treasurer is in charge of collecting funds and the keeping of financial records. -33-
