LUSBY PRIZE A prize to be presented each year to that nurse of the Senior Class who em- bodies in the most marked degree the qualities of willingness, cheerfulness, tact and efliciency, at all times, to all people, on duty and off, patient, doctor and fellow nurse. The prize to be known as the Frances I. Lusby Prize in honor of a former Superintendent of Nurses of the Jefferson Hospital who possessed these charac- teristics in a most exceptional degree. This nurse to be selected by ballot at least two weeks before Commencement Day. Each member of the Senior and Intermediate class in good standing to have one vote. The result to be kept secret until announced at the Commencement Exercises. This prize was awarded this year to lXfIiss Virginia Beamer. THE ETHEL P. BOWEN AWARD An award to be presented each year to that nurse of the Intermediate Class who embodies in the most marked degree the qualities of willingness, cheerfulness, tact and efficiency, at all times, to all people, on duty and off, patient, doctor and fellow nurse. This award to be known as the Ethel P. Bowen Award in honor of a former Assistant Superintendent of Nurses of the Jefferson Hospital, who possessed these characteristics in a most exceptional degree. This nurse to be selected by ballot, at least two weeks before Commencement Day. Each member of the Senior and Intermediate Class in good standing to have one Vote. The result to be kept secret until announced at the Commence- ment Exercises. This prize was awarded this year to Miss Marie Keyes. 38

The Florence Nightingale Pledge I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from Whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmfuldrug. I will do all in my power to elevate the standard of my pro- fession, and I will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping, and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his Work, and to devote myself to the Welfare of those committed to my care. sissy
