Class Historyh- REMEMBERED xsane In the dim and distant past some little boys and irls sat on hard seats Q G g watching the graduating exercises of the Jefferson High School. Questionlngly, fr , z I they beseeehed their parents: 'Why are seniors? Are they really as important 4 . 3 caps as everyone thinks they are? 'When assured that senlors'were really important NTT 9 f people, and that they were important because they had gone long days and years l to school, and that all boys and girls dreamed of the day when they, too, could s be seniors, the little boys and girls resolved that some day they, too, would --A- 3 be seniors. QQ And so the day came when this group of little boys and girls started off Ns to school with resolve to study hard and.long. They longed for the day when T they would be freshmen in high school. They managed to get through seven years which passed very quickly. They all loved most of their teachers and they H , M learned the fundamentals which were necessary for a high school student. Dur- g ' gt ing these years they learned to live and work with other people. Q Q .lt 'S When the day came for them to enter high school, they began the Freshman AS . ' year with twenty-one members. They found this grade quite different from grade T, t school. There were not so many subjects to studyg but they were much harder. E ' J ' T There was one subject that was the queerest thing. If you d1dn't know what it 5? 4 , ay ,, was about, you just said, uLet x be 1t.n Then finally you knew what the answer ij , Q was, even though you didn't know what it was all about. Then there was a sub- Nu gpg- N'-f 5 ject they called history. It - all about dates, only not the kind you eat. xg Ng'5x , T ,as,S X By the next year five 1.- dropped out. That left the class with only six- LQ its Q' or teen members. 'They always did tell us that numbers do not count so much as 'F AN s' S' quality. Well, they had the quality all right, as we were to find out as they Q I g ' went through high school. 'Q f X When they became Junlvru enero were fifteen in the class. Three members 1 sei X of the class had dropped out and two new ones were added. They really grew up Q! ' when they became Juniors. They gave the seniors a banquet--and such a banquet! fPardon the personal bragging, please.J The Juniors were well represented in xy basketball and in any big event which took place during the year. Then some of fl ,Q L X them sang in the chorus while others ushered for the commencement exercises. ' Egg 53 U Q1 5 While they were Juniors, they began to realize that not only are seniors alia, 1 N 'gy important, but they have many things to measure up to. They learned that ap- 1 Esax 5 :es .Q plication to hard work and ability to follow directions are necessary if any f SSSS 2 ds Senior is to arrive at the day of graduation qualified to wear tb' cap and gown p bk -1 X of the class. - - ,M Sag Never will the high school get through talking about these students during gtg their senior year. It seemed that they stood at the head of the classes when 4g s it came to putting on the nGold Trimmingsn to make the student body of the high wge t T school outstanding. They had much competition with some of the other classes ll a s qt 5 5 of which they were really proud. It is just too bad that they had to be sen- gl -, iors and about ready to leave our school before anyone really began to appre- ' .' xp '-'Ir . ed, X I I Q15S h X A 1 XS ii S X p X ciate them as seniors should be appreciated. The Senior Class had some members to drop out but four boys were added to the class, making sixteen to graduate, one member getting a twelfth grade di- ploma. The seniors enjoyed working on the school paper, the annual, the senior play and the other big events which took place during their last year of high yn SN S s 1' s S1 N .nn s SJ school. They sponsored an Annual Queen contest, box supper, cake walks, sold .1 Q ,s X -9 The XXX 3 1 he has Memories. D bQxx magazines and helped with other things to make money for the class. Last, but not least, they began to plan for graduation. To each of the seniors, graduation is the most important happening of the year. Although they graduate with sad hearts because of leaving high school a they are 1if0e happy they are ready, and they hope prepared, Seniors have done their best this year to make best in every way. The four years they have spent in nd their many friends, for greater things in the school one of the Jefferson High School wi 1 be remembered always, and will form a treasured chapter in our Book of thus- fm 'xgfhgew--animal ..,,, We .vlw? s --aa W Af, - I 1.
