Sophomoras Andy Fiala and Mary Lester give it their all at the W.P.A. dance. at as 2, Q ,N .M -if if VNQ, 5 z S., if Because of a successful football campaign, school spirit was at a fever pitch. The ever abundant fall pep assembly was an outlet to release pent up energy. The most memorable assembly, of course, was before the Washington game. It featured a fired- up student body, an l've Got It cheer done by the football players, and the infamous poem by Randy Shaver. However, as the fall turned to winter and the football season ended, so did the pep assemblies, and school spirit silently slipped into hibernation. One bright spot during the dreary winter season was the reintroduction of the Women Pay All week. Included among the week's activities were three kings being chosen, one from each class, the showing of The Other Side of the Mountain, and a semiformal dance. From the kings to the dance, all activities were designed to recreate the Homecoming at- mosphere. Jeffy J-Hawk, portrayed by junior Colleen Sass, helps cheer the team on to victory. Q

lnspired by the music, junior Kendra Gevock exuberantly moves to the beat at an after-game mixer. Boogie'n down to their favor- ite hot spot on a Friday night was a fre- quent way for most students to escape from the pressures and headaches of school and enjoy the freedom of a two day breather. For those with large appetites and a lot of time on their hands, pizza places were a big hit. After bowling a few frames or catching the latest flick, many students stopped to grab a bite to eat or just get together with the gang and have a good time. For sophomores, the frequent trips up and down the avenue proved to be only stalling tactics while they were getting up their nerve to buy some refreshments at one of the many Quick-Trips they had passed ten or fifteen times. lf you were one of the students who was short on funds, the best place to be was back at school watching one of the many varied athletic activities or dancing at one of the mixers. wwf-143' Stopping at McDonald's, seniors Rick Cole and Lee Selinger pause to munch out during an exciting night on the town.
