Retiring Teachers Receive Gratitude MR. EARL KELLMER MRS. MILDRED MITCHEL Next fall Earl Kellmer plans to leave the physics lab in Room 7A and take an ex- tended trip to Europe. After that he may even visit more distant spots if the mood so moves him. Although Mr. Kellmer has taught phys- ics, mathematics, biology, and science for thirty-seven years, nine of these at Jefferson, he is a man of varied interests. Music, first aid, the American Red Cross, and geology are only a few of the many activities which this versatile instructor enjoys. Respected by all for his kindly sense of humor and the quiet, efficient manner in which he carries on his classes, Mr. Kellmer will be difficult to replace. We wish he were not leaving Jefferson, but we are very pleased that he has so inter- esting and educational an experience planned for his future. Mrs. Mildred Mitchol, faculty member of twenty-three years' standing, is graduating from Jef- ferson, too, this year in a sense—graduating to free and pleasant hours to concentrate on her often neg- lected pastimes of reading, driving, and visiting in- teresting places. Fire drills and air raid drills won't seem the same somehow without her standing in the center hall, stop watch in hand, checking to see if the pre- sent record can be beaten. Christmas won't be Christmas at Jefferson with- out the geometric tree in Room -204. Let's hope that future geometry classes carry on this time-honored tradition. Knowing her bounding energy, it's impossible to imagine this lady retiring from anything; she'll probably be busier than ever.
