The Spectrum June, 1919 WHAT OCCUPATION SHALL I SELECT ? • Telephone Operating as a vocation for young women offers important and fascinating work in which permanent and continuous employment is assured. Operating employees work in a refined and wholesome atmosphere under the direction of kindly women of mature judgment, and do not come in personal contact with the public. Previous experience is not required as all operators, immediately on employment, are given a short course of instruction. During this period they earn approximately $48.00 a month. Increases in pay are regularly given and at the end of seven months all operators earn from $60.00 to $70.00 per month.
