VARSITY BASEBALL MR. CRUICKSHANK - COACH 74 These Teen Agers our Seniors sign their Yearbooks The Senior year in high school is one of fond memories. If this, The 1959 Statesman, recalls those memories it has served its purpose well. Ma 7a R We stepped slowly, we talked in a nervous tone. We were pushed on the stairs, we lost our way in the long narrow halls. Remember the eighth grade? We were simply being planted in new surroundings. These walls became our growing founda- tion for the future. This was but five years ago as the class of 59 enrolled in Jefferson High School. Well, we made it! It was a long haul but Freshmen we became. And OH, brother we were hit by an avalanche of homework. This was taken in stride, however, as we learned to participate in school activities. There were many firsts in this Freshman year. First assembly ---, first dance ---, first Joumal ---, and the first S, A, ticket sale. Time continued on surprisingly enough as our Sophomore year began. This was the year things started to pop up all around us. Halloween Fun Night ---, the city football title ---, the Chrismias Formal ---, a gala Ieffe-Gras. . . . . . . , the Soph Hop and the All-Sports Banquet filled our eyes with excitement. We became better acquainted with our classmates and with homework. Sputnik was launched, and we spurted into our Junior year. We welcomed Miss Davis, Mr. Frizelle, Mr. Neracker and Mrs. Whatford. Our farewells went to Miss Hutchinson and to Mr. Beegle. We remember the Variety Show ---, the Iunior Party ---, and oh well, those report cards? We were confident Juniors, playing a bigger role i.n Jefferson's life. At the end of this busy year we felt the loss of two truly fine men --- Dr. Wishart and Mr. Fauth left our school for new positions. Our Junior year closed in an uproar as we moved up into the Senior seats. What confusion! They said, It couldn't be done, and all that jazz, but there we were, Seniors in Jefferson High School. We waited for this big year and now it faced us. Our new principal Mr. Richard Manske also faced us in a warm manner, I remember the first time we all marched out of the assembly. OH boy! what a feeling! We received our Senior Rings with great joy. You know, we still look at them now and then with pride. Remember the Senior Luncheons ---, the Senior Banquet ---, those College Entrance Exams ---, and of course, the graceful Senior Prom? Looking back we all can remember moments of everlasting joy, Each of us has his own moments to remember. Now we prepare to go our separate ways, never again to assemble in one group. We thank our teachers, who as our second parents have now given us the opportunity to grasp the future. Looking back, we can see a tear falling slowly and we can feel our hearts saying --- Remember always those wonderful days at Jefferson High. 77 .VX A Y if ' f r K- X, x I . xx in SEN Qlwgyw Swwffw 5 W fig M www K ww? iw AREA ijfggmj A QW Sify M l if vu My A?2 iJZ'wQ' Qi N Mwwmaww Qwgffpfh, , 2' Q j sw fixi? my WMP ,fav-Q fxfffwf CIUWMN X iggwix xv?
