' A X I, ' THE CLASS OF 1952 RECALLS - - S the Class of 1952, we can look back across the past five years with fond memories and a glowing satisfaction at the accomplish- ments of these years. In September of 1947, we entered Jefferson as eighth graders and felt as though we had been cast into a strange, new world. The build- ings and teachers were new to us and we wondered if we would ever be- come used to them.Slowly, however, the newness began to wear off and we became a part of Jefferson as Jefferson became a part of us. We returned to school in the fall of 1948 with a renewed enthusiasm for now we were true Jeffersonians, ready and eager to take an ever im- portant place in our studies, athletics, and in the social life of our school Our' sophomore year found us as the group that thought we had mas- tered everything, though in reality we knew very little. We found our- selves slowly moving up to positions of greater prestige in our social life at Jefferson. When September of 1950 came around, we began to feel more like the class of '52, We were juniors, and proud of having attained that po- sition in our school community. The greatest thrill of all came on mov- ing up day, when at last we had reached the pinnacle of our high school careers. We were seniors. Seniors. That was a magic word to us. We finally came into the spot light -- we were the elite of Jefferson High School. Under the cap- able leadership of our class president, William Clementi, we were really going to make our last year at Jefferson one to be remembered for all time. We will .never forget the excitement of our senior prom or of the eagerness with which we looked forward to the senior banquet. We were busy in many school activities, for in our subconscious mind, we knew that time was running out, and we wanted to drink a full cup of pleasure before our leaving. Looking back at it all, we feel as though our stay at Jefferson has been a book of five chapters, each covering a year of our lives. The book is coming to an end, for our goal, graduation, looms in view. Our studies, the fun we had, and the lasting friendships we have acquired are all part of the book called the Class of 1952. As we leave the halls of our Alma Mater, we pass the banners we have tried to hold so high to our successors with a fervent hope that they carry them on unblemished in the best traditions of democracy and'free- dom. May we, in our future lives, keep a warm place in our heartsfull of fond memories of our school years at Jefferson, for they are truly to be cherished forever. .
