Suspense: coronation creates it Questions abounded. Who was going with whom to the dance? And what was she wearing? But the biggest question of all was: WHO would be crowned King and Queen? Warren Magnuson had the honor of announcing the anticipated secret — King Tony Porthan and Queen Jenny Garnet. Right: Mike Bailey escorts Lisa Hat down Coronation aisle. Volunteer students decorated the gym with flowers, tinsel, and crepe paper. Marching band, choir, flags and rifle corps, JJ danceline, and cheerleaders all participated. Junior Jenny Sanford sang, “Beneath My Wings,” to open up Coronation. Tim Kenny, who was Senior Ambassador, also sang, “Memories,” from the musical, “Cats.” With ail those questions, Jefferson’s 16th Coronation was filled with suspense.
