Staff The teachers are real nice, they are always willing to talk to you.” ••The teachers are human.” •' My counselor spent more time with me the first week than the one in my old school did all last Students •‘The kids are very informal and friendly.” I found it easy to make new friends.” •‘There are all kinds of kids, but most are nice.” What’s It Really Like In an effort to find out what life at Jefferson is really like, we asked some students new to the school for: The Good Mod Schedule ‘•I love mod scheduling, it gives me a chance to meet people.” •■IS time is good, because I can get my work done in school and not have to carry a lot of books home. “When I need help I can usually get it right away, without an appointment. Lunches Lunches are great here, compared to my old school this place is a delicatessen. I like the idea of having a choice of what I can eat. in my old school all we got was TV dinners. The salad lunch is neat. I think most lunches are too much fattening stuff.” 18

The Bad Respect Jefferson is a really beautiful building, but many of the kids don't respect it or take care of it. They don't know what a waste basket is for.” If you leave a book or something for a minute you're lucky if it’s there when you come back. Some kids use bad words.” The Pit The pit is a real disgrace, that kind of stuff should not be permitted in a school. Ifs dumb having a rule against smoking in school and then having the pit. Either they should allow kids who want to smoke anywhere or enforce the rules.” School Spirit The only people with any school spirit are the cheerleaders, at games people don't watch or cheer they just socialize. No one seems to be too interested in school activities except for drinking parties. Detention No comments we received about the detention room were fit to print. 19
