A N9H {JT7ZZ5 The 1978 Revolution Jefferson High School Bloomington, Minnesota i ed u ca tion (ej ' e kS ’ shan), development of knowledge, skills, ability, by teaching, training, study, or experience. JHS offers its students a wide range of opportunities to learn, study, or experience the skills they will need in their lives. A full curriculum prepares the student for college, vo-tech, work, or fun. 3 Looking, Seeking, Doing, Learning For many JHS students the Career Center becomes the most important area of the building. There they can read about possible vocations, obtain college catalogues, take a wide range of tests, and even explore possible opportunities with the aid of a computer terminal. On a typical day the Center will have representatives from a college at one table, maybe a military recruiter at another, while students read about Vo-Tech programs at a third. 4 Some students are able to gain direct training experiences in either the classroom or “on the job.” The range of possibilities for learning is great, there is something for every taste or desire. 5 Preparation for Leisure 6 Hk Over the years the number of hours a person actually works in a day or week has been slowly reduced. School now must also make an effort to prepare the student for the many hours of leisure they will have. 7 8 Some students take the idea of preparing for leisure a little too seriously and spend much of their time over preparing in a variety of ways. Sitting, talking, resting, slipping out for lunch, are all a part of the JHS ••Extended Curriculum. 9 Preparation for the Little Thinge 12 Much of life is filled with those little things which come up unexpectedly. We must often fill out forms, wait for friends, wait for the signal to begin or the call to action. At times we must take advantage of a spare minute to look at the facts one more time before the test or later go over our results and be evaluated. Whatever it is that life holds for us we can prepare for it, if we wish, in the halls and classes of our school. Preparation for Anything M Homecoming Sadie Winter Formal J.T.C. Presents. Concerts Music Special Events Daily Activities 17 Staff The teachers are real nice, they are always willing to talk to you.” ••The teachers are human.” •' My counselor spent more time with me the first week than the one in my old school did all last Students •‘The kids are very informal and friendly.” I found it easy to make new friends.” •‘There are all kinds of kids, but most are nice.” What’s It Really Like In an effort to find out what life at Jefferson is really like, we asked some students new to the school for: The Good Mod Schedule ‘•I love mod scheduling, it gives me a chance to meet people.” •■IS time is good, because I can get my work done in school and not have to carry a lot of books home. “When I need help I can usually get it right away, without an appointment. Lunches Lunches are great here, compared to my old school this place is a delicatessen. I like the idea of having a choice of what I can eat. in my old school all we got was TV dinners. The salad lunch is neat. I think most lunches are too much fattening stuff.” 18 The Bad Respect Jefferson is a really beautiful building, but many of the kids don't respect it or take care of it. They don't know what a waste basket is for.” If you leave a book or something for a minute you're lucky if it’s there when you come back. Some kids use bad words.” The Pit The pit is a real disgrace, that kind of stuff should not be permitted in a school. Ifs dumb having a rule against smoking in school and then having the pit. Either they should allow kids who want to smoke anywhere or enforce the rules.”________________ School Spirit The only people with any school spirit are the cheerleaders, at games people don't watch or cheer they just socialize. No one seems to be too interested in school activities except for drinking parties. Detention No comments we received about the detention room were fit to print. 19 Homecoming — 77 i Lett to Right: Wendy Costello Kathy Young Sue Lichtenburger Lisa Yokubonis Queen 1976 Sue Davies Queen 1977 Jane Villwock Shelly Jorgensen Heidi Ruele Left to Right: Dirk Moorhead Dick Brinkhaus King 1976 Brian Mazzu Mike Gunderson King 1977 Scon Swenson Tom Hendricks Pete Stahl Tom Swanson 20 Homecoming 1977 was both a disaster and a grand old tradition. Rain washed out the parade and the football game on Friday night. The game was rescheduled for Monday and played in a drizzle on a field which was muddy and slippery. The weather, the footing, and the opposition all joined together to cause a loss for our guys. The theme for the event also came under attack for its unintentional portrayal of the Native American. However, the weather, the loss, and the complaint did not destroy the good side of Homecoming. The coronation went smoothly, the dance was enjoyed by all who attended, and the alumni got a chance to ask those they hadn’t seen for a while, “What ya' up to? 21 Sadie, Sadie, Again a Lady 22 The 1977 edition of the traditional Sadie Hawkins Dance was a quiet affair. All the usual attractions were there: Marryin’ Sam tied the knot for couples who could afford the price; Kickaboo Joy Juice was available straight from the cider jug; couples could pose for a picture they would never forget. Couples danced Dogpatch style to the Disco Sound of John Hunt, or they just sat and watched others bounce, kick, and jump. Fortunately the only swaging this year was just to the music which meant Winter Formal would not have to be cancelled. 23 Jefferson Theatre Company Presents . . . An Evening of Stories for All Ages 24 Christmas Carol The Ghosts of Christmas' Past, Present, and Future rattled their chains and raised dust as the JTC players offered Dickens' classic, The Christmas Carol December 15th and 16th. Strong performances and adept staging made this a presentation that rattled your bones and left you with a real appreciation of the talents of our players. 26 This year the JTC players presented five separate short plays designed for the young but pleasing to eyes of all ages. Included in this year's package were: The Bremen Town Musicians, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Henny Penny, The Golden Goose, and the Mime Team in Little Boxes. This wide array of presentations gave the members all a chance to display their talents to the fullest, and quite a display it was. The final act in the JTC program came in the Spring with Nathan Detroit and the gang frolicing on stage in the musical Guys and Dolls. 27 Winter Formal After much discussion it was finally decided to have a Winter Formal. A date was set, a band was hired, and committees were formed. It might have been the weather, or the timing, or the fact that the tradition was broken last year, but this year the Formal was not as well attended as had others in the past. Those who went enjoyed a chance to talk, get their pictures taken, and at times to dance. 28 R What's New'] Each year, it seems, brings some new twists to our old school, and 1977-78 was not different. In order to control the speed of those who drove on the driveways around the school a series of speed bumps were installed. Early attempts to deal with these led to many lost mufflers and severe shakes. However, after a little experience and a lecture on how to angle over the bumps most were able to proceed with care. 1977-78 also produced a new schedule, which began a bit earlier and had a “B Day extended advisor period. Another innovation was the placing of protective plastic boxes over all the thermostats. While the boxes made little different at first, by mid January a few rooms were suited for meat storage only. Students were greeted, when they returned in September, to an inscription on the front of the school advertising some second rate musical organization. There is a popular slogan about having to try harder when you're No. 2, but it would be nice if they would try on the practice field and not on our walls. In February it was discovered that a large percentage of the buses used by KAL bus lines to transport Jaquars were not up to State Safety standards. After a few days of late buses or doubled up runs, buses from other districts were brought in until ours were corrected and approved. While most students generally respect the building, a few found it necessary to express their thoughts in marking pen. Jefferson’s Career Center received a new addition during the winter when a Career computer was installed to help students locate training for certain jobs, and to show job opportunities. Probably the biggest new item for 77-78 was the Detention-suspension program. The former faculty lunchroom became the “Box.” Students who were tardy checked in there. Those who were tardy too often, missed class, or committed other major crimes got to spend a day, or two, in confinement. 31 Fads, Fashions, Fancies of 77-78 Each year brings with it a new fad which seems to sweep through the student body and then dies over the summer. This year it was the stickpin. These little trinkets began to show up on collars, sweaters, and tops with amazing regularity. The male half of the student body went into T shirts this year. Shirts showed one's taste in music, vacation spots, or other form of fun and frolic. Students returning to school after the Winter break brought with them the smash game item of the year, a pocket size computerized football game. If one listened carefully its telltale sound could be heard in nearly every area of the building. 32 33 The One Thing I'll Always Remember About Minnesota Is the Winter 34 The winter of 1977-78 may prove to be the worst of the century. All across the nation there were record snow falls that stalled traffic and tied up the giant East Coast cities. The far West had record rains followed by mud slides. All the nation except Minnesota suffered. We did have a record cold wave, over 60 straight days when the temperature failed to get above freezing, but we were spared extreme cold and snow. For those who liked to cross country ski it was a great year. The outdoor hockey rinks stayed frozen and the roads were open. For those who cared to get out and away there was lots of beauty to see. Even for those who didn't get out and away there was beauty, the scenes on these two pages were all taken within a mile of our school. Most are from the area behind Normandale JC, a few are behind the ice garden. 35 A.F.S. Cheerleaders Debate Declaration D.E.C.A. Flag and Rifle Corps Health Careers Club H.E.A.R.T. All of this is done under the watchful eye of Mag, Mr. Warren Magnuson; Director. All areas of stagecraft are dealt with including: performing, make up, set design, directing, and lighting. Symphony Band 45 Varsity Band The Big B' Goes to Big D' The highlight of the Marching Band season was a trip to Dallas to participate in the Cotton Bowl parade and Festival. As a bit of luck our Minnesota Vikings qualified for the NFL playoff and so the band was selected to provide the half time show. Unfortunately the officials of CBS decided the nation would rather see Irv, Phyllis, and Brent and so the band got little national exposure. (Do you suppose that’s why CBS is 3?). Members of the band performed and toured and had a wonderful time. The folks in Dallas were excellent hosts, they even provided the band with Minnesota weather. Maybe Big D stands for dreary! 46 The 1977 Marching Band Thomas Jefferson Senior High School Bloomington, Minnesota Donald Casey — John Eckberg Directors Go Team Go Trying to lead cheers is a difficult job since few students want to participate. At most games the cheerleaders, the jaguar, and a few students try to be enthusiastic, but the rest of the students talk, socialize, or stand in line for popcorn. Even under these conditions our cheerleaders and the jaguar mascot do their best to stir the crowd and show the teams that they have lots of support. One becomes a cheerleader or a mascot only after going through a tryout session in which the competition is always tough. The few who win a place on the team then find much of their lives controlled. They must conform to High School League rules, and they must give many evenings up so that they can go cheer when they often outnumber the crowd. At times they must brave rain, cold, smelly gyms, and risk injury on skates. Fortunately there are still students who want to do this. Wouldn't it be nice if some of their enthusiasm would infect the crowds? 48 font Row. Left to Right: JAGUARS. Kristi Folkestad. Penny Behrendt. Members are selected each Spring in a tryout competition. Those who are successful then spend many hours after school getting their routines perfect. The long practices show when the Corps takes the field, their close order drills and formations add much to the fans' enjoyment of both football and basketball games. Highlights of this year's season were serving as an honor guard for the Homecoming Coronation and going to Dallas to perform in The Cotton Bowl Parade and the NFC playoff game. 50 51 The Long Blue Line Almost any afternoon between 2:30 and 5:00 you can find the JJ's in the cafeteria practicing their routines and learning new ones. The total number of hours they put in is reflected in the beautiful shows they provide at halftimes and at pep fests. One becomes a member of the line by audition, but one becomes a part of the line only through practice. THE 1977-78 JJ’S, Back Row; Left to Right: Jill McHenery. The National Honor Society is a very select group which accepts only the top 15% of the senior class, and then only after a very careful screening process. The group serves mainly as a service club. They provided student guides during open houses and other such activities. This year they also looked into a variety of fund raising programs in an attempt to get money for trees to replace those destroyed by Dutch Elm. Their meetings were always well attended and the desire to take part was always evident. 53 A.F.9. While AFS really stands for American Field Service, it seems as though it means All Foreign Students. The AFS club is made up of both Jefferson students and foreign exchange students who enjoy learning about customs and practices in other lands. The club's many activities are designed to promote friendship and understanding throughout the world. Each fall an international pot luck dinner is held which features dishes from around the world. Carlos Sanchez and Maria Gonzalez provide some down home music at the International Dinner held in the cafeteria. Top: Mr. Don Chase makes some last minute arrangements at the International Dinner. The Jefferson chapter of DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is an active group in both school and organizational activities. They sponsor a balloon drift in connection with Homecoming. They also sponsor sales of seasonable articles, and help to raise money for conventions by conducting a taste test. Most DECA students are enrolled in some form of co op training, spending the mornings in school and then going on the job for further training. 55 Smile, Your're on WJAG Missed a large group because of illness? have a conflict so you can't get to a discussion? or you had to work last night and missed the hockey game? all these problems can be solved through the miracle of video tape and the staff of WJAG. Besides providing this type of backup the WJAG people provide all forms of AV material to brighten up a class or to help in a student presentation. A regular service is the preparation of a news broadcast which gives students a chance to gain experience on both sides of the television camera. Heart HEART is one of four work co-op programs availabe to students. Those who enroll spend an hour in class each day, plus taking their required courses, and then leave school for on the job training. While the idea of getting out of school early and working for pay appeals to many, the program is more than just that. Students must keep records of what they do, prepare reports, and perform to minimum standards to receive credit and remain on the program. Right: Becky Jordan also at Telex, OEA may sound like a governmental agency, but it isn't. OEA stands for Office Education Association, one of the co op work training programs offered to JHS students. Students who join OEA spend part of their day in class doing simulated business operations, then go out on the job and do it for real. O.E.A. 58 Bienvenidos Club Espanol Students taking Spanish and others interested in a good time have formed the Spanish Club. A major activity of the club is preparing authentic Spanish foods and enjoying a fiesta. Some members of the club have decided to take advantage of a special opportunity and travel to Spain in the Spring. To please the REVOLUTION camera the Club staged a special fiesta complete with all the trimmings. There were tacos, black beans, doritos, and even that special Spanish dish El Brownieos. 59 VICA is the fourth co op training program which exists in JHS. It is also probably the busiest since they never could find a time to have their picture taken. HOCKEY CHEERLEADERS: Joni Gilyard, Anne Rockwell. Lisa Grebner. Each advisor group selects one member for the Council of Reps. Ten Council members join with reps from staff, administration, cooks, custodians, and secretarial staff to form the second house of the structure. Unfortunately many homerooms fail to send a rep or if they do the rep comes once or twice then leaves. The few who stay attempt to accomplish what they can. This year they got the speed bumps rounded off, raised money to get some new trees, and sponsored the Winter Formal. They also dealt with the problem of trays being left in the lunchroom through a tray voucher program. 62 Lost and Found In setting up the original plan for this year’s REVOLUTION space was set aside for all the various organizations listed in the student handbook. However, in putting the book together it was discovered that some clubs have been lost, while others exist but are not listed. Has anyone seen the Health Careers Club or the Chess Club? They both seem to have vanished. Also gone is the Pep Club, which had a brief life, but it lost its own pep and was nowhere to be found when pictures were scheduled. While looking for the lost clubs a few unknown ones were found. Shown above and left is the ’’Out to Lunch Club” their meetings were held daily in the main hall where they discussed the same question, Where do we go today?” Usually they came up with a solution and left to continue their debate pondering the heavy issue, Do I want a Big Mac or a Big Barny? A second club is the Jefferson chapter of SCALE (Student Climbers And Lofty Explorers). These students prepared for their lifes goal, climbing the face of the IDS building, by climbing on any thing that offered a challenge. 63 All the News That Fits They Print Right: Two Rebel staffers look up the meaning of what their beloved advisor called them after they picked the spot for the staff picture. 64 The Business Staff? School newspapers, much like school lunches, are usually an object of ridicule, however, in the case of the REBEL such comments are quite improper. Ms. Jan Parks, advisor, and Bob McDonough, editor, and the entire REBEL staff for that matter, work long and hard to put out a paper which tries to satisfy all readers. They deal with current issues both school wide and district wide, plus they give comments on films, records, and concerts. While many just toss their issues away believing them to be worthless, those who take time to read and enjoy the several copies have come to appreciate the efforts of the small group who can be found in the Lower C wing working on further issues. Above: The editorial staff gets their first look at one of the outstanding RE8EL issues, while their advisor tries to remember if she paid the premium on her liability insurance. 65 The Revolution Putting a yearbook together is not an easy 10b, Cindy Bell and Jill Pemberton first had to learn how to draw a straight line. The weather cooperated beautifully with adequate early snow and then cool, but not bone chilling cold, that kept the snow on the slopes and made for a great week every week. Besides the regular Thursday after school outings to Buck Hill the Club planned a number of longer trips. While they never got to Vail they did have a Vail of a great time. 67 Beginning Debate Students may be in beginning debate for a number of reasons, some take it to prepare for state wide debate tournaments, while others take it to acquire basic debate skills. Those in the course prepare and present talks on a variety of issues, listen, and prepare rebuttals or critiques. Regardless of the reason for taking the program those who make it to the end of the year have gained a much needed skill for their future. 68 Above: Mike Bresnahan. Activities, Let Everybody Get Into the Act 70 The intramural sports program is an important part of the activities available for students at JHS. Offering individual activities such as a supervised weight training program, individual games such as racquetball in an improvised court, and team sports such as basketball, the IM program operates on the premise that all who come out get to play. While the competition is sometimes a little rough, the action is exciting and the enthusiasm of the Basketball team championships is as great among the contestants as State Tournament feelings are for those on the teams that qualify. Since varsity and JV sports get the gym first those who take part in IM contests often have to play at 8:00 PM or later, but they still come out and play and most of all they enjoy a chance to compete. The action shots on these two pages are from the Basketball playoffs. Under the direction of Earl Lyons, who is shown in one picture giving a jump shot lesson, and George Vasiliou the program has grown to a point where it attracts crowds equal to those at some varsity sports. 71 Basketball Cross Country Football Gymnastics Hockey Skiing Soccer Swimming Tennis Volleyball Wrestling 72 73 m Runners-Up in 1977 Girls' State Swim Championships Back Row: Dan Hood, Mgr. This finish is the highest ever by a Jefferson swim team. All season long Coach Wayne Mandery looked for the right combination and by the time for the Region Meet he found it. Since few of the girls had much experience with the game this year was more a teaching year than anything else. While the season record was less than excellent the team was never really out of any game. Barb Seitz provided a scoring punch during much of the year while Clare Gordon and Lori Woldum were great at play making. Back Row: Coach R. McQuade. Manager W. Miller, D. Westrom, L. Woldum. 8. Co-Captains Kellen Sievers and Shawn Stotesbery led the team to a disappointing won-loss record, but personal achievement was much higher. Running 75-100 miles a week, the runners worked to be able to complete the 3 mile race course in 18 minutes or less. Coach Palmersten, new this year, did a good job in turning a late start into a strong finish for those who went the distance. 82 Back Row, L to R: Doug Hilsoo, Dan Blake, Shawn Stoesbery, Kellen Sievers, Coach Palmersten. For the next four weeks the football season seemed more like the swimming season as almost each Friday the sky opened and the rain fell. The team tried to stay afloat in what became a mud bowl but found both the footing and the going to be tough. The season highlight came on a clear day against cross town rival Lincoln. The game was a defensive struggle most of the way with our guys driving close enough for a last minute field goal and victory. The victory made it a successful season. Junior Varsity C a Qophomores ► 85 The 1977 Volleyball season could have been better, but for a still relatively new sport with few experienced players to draw from it was at least a season of promise. The team always put up a great battle and at times they surprised everyone and put together a scoring streak. As the girls gain experience and skills the team should progress and soon be a top contender for Conference honors. 86 I Dig. Region 6 Champions, and State Tourney entrant for the third year in a row. all these honors were earned by the 1978 girl’s basketball team. The season started on both a good and bad note; The girls easily defeated last year’s state champs but lost two starters; Lori Woldum and Barb Bailey. Lori tried to return later in the year but her knee gave out and she had to have surgery. Barb was back in just a few weeks playing with a cast on her hand and developing a left handed jump shot. Throughout the season the club was led by the super play of Laura Gardner who scored more points in a half than the other teams scored all game usually. Wendy Wolfe developed as a good inside shot and rebounder. Then there were the defensive efforts of Sue Mooney who stole the ball so often other teams began showing up with a cop. Doreen Gill became a scorer and great defensive player as the season progressed. The regular season ended without a loss for our girls who then entered Regional action and earned a return to the State. 89 SOPHOMORE SQUAD, Front Row; Lett to Right: M. Vidmar, B. Knight. There was no big guy at center, but still by being in the right place guys like Tom Stark, Mike Randall, and Randy Mclver got more than their share of rebounds. There was no super scorer, but one night it was Todd Mariska, then Mike Gunderson or Steve Nelson. When one guy had a bad night or the too common flu, others like Greg Lewis or Tim Erickson came in to fill the gap. All season long these guys held together by the consistent play of Curt Bailey provided the fans with an outstanding year. 91 Qwimmers Gain Winning has become a great tradition for Jaguar swimmers, and this year's team continued where the others had left off. Major victories included the Division Championship, by going undefeated, and capturing the Jefferson Invitational again. Led by strong performances by Dan Hood, Casey Miller, John Rock, Gary Peters, John Randall, and Mike Paplow the team moved into Regional competition and then to the State Tourney. Coach Wayne Mandery again proved that he knows how to get the most out of all who compete. Division Championship 92 Kneeling: Left to Right: S. Schulberg, B. Skunberg, M Thomas, J. Peterson, R. There’s a big difference between high school wrestling and the stuff you see on television. Our Jaguar grapplers are always writing their own script, but so is the other guy. The result is the best writer is the best wrestler. Jaguar wrestlers did a good job this season, they were never really out of a meet and finished strong in the conference. In regional competition Stan Dandrea and Bill Von Holtum qualified for the State Meet. 97 Gymnastics is still relatively new as a girls competitive sport. The team achieved a lot of personal success although they did not finish high in the conference. The 100 point mark was at last achieved, and individual scores in the 8. range obtained. The girls who took part were usually serious, except when a photographer was around. There is hope that with a now growing development program for elementary girls soon gymnastics will become another area where Jaguars excel. Front Row, Left to Right: M. Sinto, P. VonEschen, S. Cross country skiing gives anyone who wants to spend hours training and waxing a chance to take part in a competitive sport. It also is good for the waist line and lungs. Jefferson’s team did a lot of waxing and puffing, and although the season's record was not sensational the spirit of competition grew. By season's end all who had stuck it out were proud of their efforts. In an economy move ski jumping was eliminated from the interscholastic sports program this year. This was unfortunate since last year the REVOLUTION had failed to publish a picture of the jumpers and had made big promises for 1978. The former team members did stage a special reunion and they are shown at the right. Back Row, L to R: P. Jenkins, W. Mikhail, C. Kallstrom. Front Row, Lto R: G. Hoshaw, M. Montouri. Led by defending state champion Steve Nelson they captured the Region Championship. Steve, John Palkovich, and Steve Tuohy then advanced to the state meet. After carefully selecting the pictures which would be used for the sports section we found we had a few pictures left which just begged to be captioned. We decided not to do it, but you can if you want. Get your mind back on the game, Dave. •FredrikaCox Oh. I've chipped a nail. Who cares about my form did it go in? Illegal use of hands, defense. Trying to get pictures of these people proved hard, but we did manage to capture a few. At the far left is Mrs. Holmay who for a long time was Mr. Chase during his absence. To the immediate left is Cyrill Meier, who is a part of the Amity Aide program and spent the year helping Jaguars learn German. 189 District 287 Jefferson High School is the center for District 287, which serves students with hearing impairments. Students come from Minneapolis, suburban Hennepin County, and beyond. Interpreters go to each class with the student and translate so that the student can hear what is being said. Currently 24 students are served in this manner. When not in class the students and the interpreters spend time together in a tutorial session. In this way the students are able to keep up in their studies and to enjoy being part of a fully comprehensive high school program. Top Right: Gordon Wilcox, the director ot the center translates algebra for one of the students. Above: Kathy Kallet explains probability as fast as Dr. Cohen. Above Right: Jeanette Young operates in a clothing class. Right: Karen Kettler docs some tutoring in the center office. 190 Left: Mary Garvey works with a student individually in the center’s office. Below Left: Martha Goetsch tries to conduct a seminar in math and to ignore the camera at the same time. Below Right: Valerie Klansek gives a student some instructions on a one to one basis. 191 No section dealing with faculty would be complete without a test, so students sharpen your pencils and your wits. Educational Assistants perform a number of vital services which allow th program to be a success. The ‘•EA s” may be found in labs and in classrooms assistm students with independent study projects, make up work, or further study into an an that has interested the student. Others serve the teaching staff as clerks, typis duplicating equipment operators, and many other services which allow the day to d teaching to progress smoothly and efficient 194 Betty Nelson Deanna O'Brien Mary Redmond, Social Studies Marylyn Shelton, Chem Lab Barbara Shelstad, Math Science Resource Center Lorraine Shepard, Home Ec M WAIKIR Gayle Stuber, Math-Science Resource Center Mary Swanson, Business Ed Margaret Walker, Math Office Some of the EA's spend their time as supervisors of the two special rooms set aside for those students who try to beat the system. Whether it's answering a phone, typing a test, setting up for a lab experiment, or just keeping watch over those who tried the program at Jefferson owes much to these people who often go out of their ways to make the jobs of the teacher and the education of the student just a little smoother and meaningful. 195 Cooks There is probably no group within Jefferson whose work is criticized more than our cooks. Cafeteria food is almost always talked about with a pained look upon one's face. However, when it comes to talking with their money the JHS student body speaks a different tune. Jefferson consistently leads the district in the percentage of students who participate in the hot lunch program. The reason for this is that our cooks have been willing to do a little extra to provide students with a wide choice of menus. There is the standard Type A lunch, the alternate, the salad, the snack bar and the a la carte line. If you can't find something to suit your tastes then you're probably not hungry. 196 Custodians Back Row: Left to Right: Ed Gr uber Jerry Bachman Viola Wronski Front Row: Arnie Uphoff Ernie Hart Jessie Anderson Ron Davis Orville Got berg Back Row: Left to Right: Dale Pierson Dick Savage Ed Gruber Dale Bishop Dale Sheflet Front Row: Joe Schwartz Joyce Hanrahan 197 Best Wishes to the Class of 78 9737 LYNDAIE AVE.
