l966: The Year of Change This was a year of change at Jefferson High School. Faces changed as new teachers replaced the old, and graduating classes were followed by new sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This kaleidoscope of change was also seen in cur- riculum variations as modern methods were in- troduced. Change was even more obvious as special events affected Jeff pupils. This year overcrowding brought dramatic innovations at Jefferson High School, To ac- commodate l79O pupils until the completion of a new school necessitated the creation of two new classrooms, and the addition of laboratory classes at seven and three o'clock. Greet Year of Change With Optimism The Jefferson l-ligh School Class ot l966, clothed in traditional yellow corduroy, stepped into the position of leadership and responsibility with the courage and conviction of those be- fore them. Their great pride in Jett was apparent in all of the actions of the 507 seniors. The united cheering of the front rows of the resounding Block Section was evidence of this warm and joyful pride. ln their studies, too, the seniors had need for an attitude of concern. They worked long hours to attain goals of excellence set by former Jeff graduates. Decorating for the Prom and serving on committees relieved the tensions caused by the tiring homework. Graduation was the bittersweet ending to their years of dedicated study, and the begin- ning ot their adult endeavors. The daily receipts from the successful senior magazine sale were added by John Stefoniak and Carol Conkling. Senior haltback, Mike Lester, trots toward the bench after dozzling the crowd with a spectacular touchdown.
