Mr. Miller, Jeff's principal, is the supervisor of the school pro- gram. He attends to all school affairs and business. Almost all activities and educational changes are taken to him for advice and approval. He devotes much of his time to individual students who need guidance. Mr. Miller is a native of Lafayette, and a graduate of Jefferson High School. He started teaching mathematics here in 1928, and became Dean of Boys in 1932. Though his day is filled with important duties, he is never too busy to give a helping hand when problems come up around the school. State Teachers Col., A.B. Page 22 Mr. Vertis D. Montgomery, known to all students as Vee Dee , is the vice-principal of Jefferson in charge of the senior division. A native of Shoals, Indiana, he attended grade and high schools there. Before receiv- ing his A.B. and M.S. degrees from Indiana University, Mr. Montgomery lived in Shoals and taught in the schools for six years. Coming to Lafayette in 1938, he started his local career as a math teacher here at Jeff. He became dean in 1943, succeeding Mr. Lynn Miller. Mr. Montgomery has been very considerate with the many stu- dents who have come to him with their problems.
