COMMERCE CLUB The newly organized Commercial Club, made up of over 100 students, got its start under its sponsor, Mrs. Rose Marie Barone. The club is called TASLB, which name repre- sents each of the commercial classes: T-typing, A-arithmetic, S-shorthand, secre- tarial, L-law, B-bookkeeping, junior business. The club sponsored scholarly activities such as Spelling, Typing, Shorthand, and Bookkeeping contests, creative activities such as the First Annual Hatmaking Contestg business World activities such as the play, Behind the Scenes In An Employment Agency, given at a convocation, and the mock trial, The City and County of Efficient Stenographers Versus The Ineflicient One, which took place at the Circuit Court of Lafayette, fun activities such as the first club party and dance, the skating party, and a picnic. The club had both girl and boy officers: Carolyn Marshall and Charles Vaughan, presidentsg Shirley Lee and Charles Runda, vice-presidents, Ruth Ann Brookbank, Wally York, treasurersg Phyllis Barcus, Bob Ave, secretaries. The free club paper, issued bi-monthly, was edited by Jack Eversole and Virginia McAllister. The staff, also, included Gordon Wolever, Alma Smith, George Sickels, Donadell Balkema. Dick Harris, Richard Hardesty, Beverly Hendricks, Rita Cooper, Maggie Barger, Kenny Gable, Hank Anderson, and Pat Thurston. nw- ll?
