Murphy. Bawlzhq. Crash! Bang! Pop! That's what you hear on Thursday afternoon at the Lafayette Bowling Alleys where the Jeff league bowls. Any students who are interested may join the league which is sanctioned and affiliated with the American High School Bowling Congress. Miss Sexton is the sponsor. The officers for the year have been Pat Henry, president: Jim Cook, secretaryg Jean Merkel, treasurer. The league bowled for 20 weeks, closing the season with a banquet at which prizes were awarded for high schores, high teams, and high sets. Imw lm.

Mr. Francis Boor, president, has been with the school board six years, and Mr. Murphy, secretary, is completing his First year. During this time, with the assist- ance of the other school officials, many of their desires and plans for better schools have been fulfilled. The parents and students of jeff are deeply indebted to these men for their careful direction which contributes so much to the success of the school. D. The Future Homemakers of America is the national organization of pupils studying homemaking in junior and senior high schools of the United States and Territories. It offers opportunity for further development of pupil initiative in planning and carry- ing out activities related to homemaking. The emblem of the club shows a house supported by two hands which symbolizes that the future houses of America are in the hands of its youth. The motto of the club is Toward New Horizons . The colors are red and white and the flower is a red rose. There are four degrees of achievement toward which the members may work. As these degrees are won, a new symbol may be added to the chain supporting the pin guard. Purposes of the Club 1. To promote a growing appreciation of the joys and satisfactions of home-making. 2. To emphasize the importance of worthy have membership. 3. To encourage democracy in home and community life. 4. To work for good homes and family life for all. 5. To promote international good will. 6. To foster the development of creative leadership in home and community life. 7. To provide wholesome individual and group recreation. 8.
