The Commerce Club, formerly called the Commercial Club, was organized in lefferson High School this year with the splendid cooperation ot students and sponsor teachers. The Commerce Club, with its shortened name, has put a new zeal into its purpose and accomplished many things this year, The purpose of the Commerce Club is to promote a social feeling between the commercial students and to bring them in contact with the practical side of commercial education. During the year the club planned many social functions such as the annual trip to Botary Park, hikes, parties, Weiner roasts, tours, educational movies, and numerous other educational meetings. The greatest of the social events was the annual Boller Skating Party at Maple Point Boller Skating Rink. Some of the most prominent business men in Lafayette have addressed the club at various times during the year, and have given many valuable points that have helped the club in carrying out its purpose. Regular meetings were held every Friday evening. Competent speak- ers with interesting subjects have been secured to lecture to the group. The club was under the sponsorship oi Mr. S. R lVlcElwaine, principal of the Lincoln School, The purpose of the l-li-Y is to create, maintain, and extend throughout the school and community high ideals of Christian character. The platform is clean living, clean sports, clean speech, and clean scholarship. Our quartet, which was organized last year, sang with our gospel team, and with the gospel teams of the other Hi-Y organizations. The gospel team has been doing active work and has visited several of the churches of Lafayette and vicinity. P !
