COOK Ray is another player that seemed to hide his ability during his first three years in jeff. but he came through in his senior year and made up for his lost time. Ray is an all around athlete and a star in every line of athletics that he entered. On the gym rloor Ray is a man who is impos- sible to hold down. He possesses a wicked eye for the hoop and used it constantly during every game. Ray has the special ability to play under the basket and making shots that seem almost impossible. XYe regret to lose Ray this year and wish him success in his athletic career at college E. LEE Lefty, after a hard fight during the first of the season, came through and Topped the back guard position. XYing Lee possesses the ability to take the ball from the bank and keep his op- ponents dazzled by breaking' up their plays in his territory. Lee can also play the Hoot- in great shape and is a constant hitter of the loop. XYhen it comes to hooking a pass the entire length of the fioor. Lefty is there with bells on and makes a perfect pass. lYe hope that Lee will be with us next season. ,l. CRQXYE lim winded up his athletic career at -lleff this year and is an athlete that will be long remem- bered. XYarhorse is a man that can play any position and who could work well with any com- bination. His ability to stick a man and his everlasting drive and pep made him a valuable asset to the team. His wild dribbling and circus shot constantly thrilled the crowd and put life into the team. jim often took the heart out of his opponents by sinking his long shots. lYe will have a hard time to fill ,Iim's slltig, ,Nxt season, X. CROXYE Norb is another member of the Shadeland Athletic Tribe. He came to -lellf this year and soon had his name in 'leffs hall of fame by majoring in three sports. After a very successful season in football he reported for basketball and his cool-headed, fiashy playing cinched his posi- tion on the first squad. Norb is a well built chap and is as sly as a fox on the floor. He has a lead eye for the basket and has the ability to draw out the guards for an under the basket shot. Norb will be with us for three years yet and with his coming experience will probably develop into a player that will equal his brother's claims. li. RESTLE After a year's experience on the second squad. Bob proved himself of varsity calibre. and be- came a valuable man on Grosshans' string of tossers. He was a dependable forward, but his natural position at guard and at this job he put his best work, He fought hard but always re- mained cool-headed. His defensive work was the highest type. combining an ability to break up plays, with a stubborn watchfulness that rendered his opponents useless on the ofiense. i'l'iol'rn was a valuable all around asset to the team. and his work will be greatly missed next year. R, SANIll'iL'Rli This lanky product of Uakland Hill, after hid- ing his ability the first three years. stepped out during his senior year and sliowetl some of the veterans how it is done 'liall and rangy. pos- sessor of a keen eye for the hoop. wonderful jumping ability. and capable of fair defense work, he made good from the start and proved at worthy understudy of Shanty Micfiuire, He was an adept handler of the ball. an artist under the basket and a dangerous long shot man. lt is regrettable that Sandy will be lost by gradua- tion this year. for he would have been gi sure bet for the pivot job next season. R. CARR Mlioflgeii was a member of Assistant Coach lianible's second team last season and llts nerve dying tight won him a berth in the first squad this year. Hodge was exceedingly fast and an ac- curate shot. Carr did not have much of a chance lo show his stuff. but was always on the job XX e will llllis hini next season lx, YUHS Volts came to -lefif this year from lxansas or some place in the wild of Africa. He soon made at name for himself at football and at the end of the season reported for basketball. Fritz used him in every position and he showed up well. doing his stuff wherever he was played, His natural position was at back guard because of his quickness to receive the ball from the bank and ability to break up plays. His constant chat- ter kept the team in good spirits. ll'e expect a great deal from lxansas next season li, DYliHL'lZliN At the beginning of the season Dyk seemed up, but due to lack to have his position burnt of experience he could not stand the gaff at back guard. XYith a little more experience he should next season Dyk develop into a real player can also cover the fioor in good shape, although he is rather heavy for this work. Dyk will be with ,left again next year and should be a valuable asset to the fighting Bronchosf' Y. CASTOR Another member of Assistant Coach Gamble's team came through and showed his stuff this season. Castor's ability to hit the hoop and an all around man won him his place on the first squad.
