INTRODUCTION Thomas Jefferson High School grows another year older, preserving its cherished tradi- tion but moving forward as an institution of learning, aware of the challenging present. With increased emphasis on scientific, engineering, and mathematical courses, the student must use his brains along with his hands to meet the requirements for graduation. Some five hundred seniors at Jefferson have looked forward anxiously to the moment when the hands of the clock closes out a memorable four years for them, the last four-year class to pass through its halls. Six hundred fifty juniors, on the verge of being useniorsf' and an industrious, at- tentive sophomore class of eight hundred strong prepare for their final years at Jefferson. The year I958 has seen numerous events pass with the helpful and guiding hands of the administration and faculty, the charitable, entertaining, and informative hands of the var- ious clubs and organizations, the strong, reliable, talented, and sportsmanlike hands of the athletic teams, and the financially and physically supporting hands of the advertisers. These constructive and creative hands of today work to make this a better world in which to live tomorrow. The clever hands of the MONTICELLO copy writers and layout artists and the hands of the photographers have attempted to capture the events of I953 and hope they will be pleas- ant reminders to those who have made these events possible.
