So it is with Mrs. Margaret Ethel West Weaver, who, as sponsor of the Monticello for nearly sixteen years until her retirement this year, has brought local, state, and even national farne to Thomas lefferson l-ligh School. To achieve these awards required no small amount of ingenuity, initiative, and persever- ance on the part of the sponsor. Though many things may be forgotten in the years to come, the yearbooks that she produced will always remain a living testimonial to her. But to us in the Annual Office, Mrs. Weaver was more than just a sponsor. as she was affectionately known to her stu- dents, was a comrade to every member of her staff-always understanding, sympathetic, and kind. lt is therefore with deep feelings of apprecia-- tion that we, the staff of l95l, dedicate this edition of the Monticello to our devoted sponsor and friend, Mrs. Margaret Ethel West Weaver. Um Wzeme lefferson's music department is of the best. This is natural, for our school reflects the spirit of the citizens of San Antonio and their cultural interests. Each school day has a musical back- ground. lnspiring music blending With the morning prayer, the drum beats at the pep rallies, the soprano voices of the Glee Club blending with the baritones of the Male Chorus and the blaring of the horns during band practice - all play an important part in lefferson's life. What would assemblies be Without the band's music to usher us into the auditorium? What of parades, con- certs, dances, and football games, all accepted parts of student activities, Without music? Because a background of music is traditional at lefferson, we often forget the hard Work that goes on behind the scenes. Therefore, the l95l Monticello takes pride in honoring the Music Department.
