M PAGE 20 Paincqzal Clearly personified in our beloved principal are all of the fine quali- ties which the students of lefferson are trying to develop in them- selves. Never too busy for a pleasant smile, a friendly Word, or help- ful advice, Mr. Rogers is an inspiring leader and a farseeing organ- izer. During the years he has been principal of Thomas lefferson, Mr. Rogers has given gra- ciously of his time to help the students. Not only his unfailing cour- tesy, but his Wonderful sense of humor has en- deared him to every- OHS.

Ma. 04cm Z. Mdlm aww swmummw sm aww JM, swam This warm friendly man is deeply loved by the Iefferson students who have graduated from Horace Mann Iunior School. Those Ieffites who were not fortunate enough to have Mr. Miller for their junior school principal know him only by his reputation for friendliness and cordiality. Our Assistant Super- intendent of Public Schools, an outdoor man, has demonstrated his interest in the students by taking many of his young associates on hunting trips. His sincere understanding of teen-age problems has won him the admiration and high esteem of all who know him. Portwood as Superintendent of Public Schools, for in his capable hands rests the destiny of the school children of this city. Mr. Portwood, one of the men respon- sible for the completion of our beautiful school, has demonstrated time and again his ability to make correct decisions. With Mr. Portwood guiding us we can look forward to an even greater Thomas Iefferson and a finer, more efficient school system.

Wane-fluwqwl Some of leffersons finest traditions have been built around this petite, efficient Dean of Girls. All prob- lems may be taken to Miss Smith with the knowledge that her sympathetic understanding will quickly ease the difficulty. One never departs from a conference with her without feeling that something of inestimable value has been gained. Her unswerving loyalty to the school, her ability to make the correct decision in- stantly, and her unruffled serenity evoke the admiration of all who come in contact with her. Ma. Rwfmancf W. rqmalcf When the problems besetting a boy become too numerous he invariably turns to Mr. Arnold for help, and unfailingly our Dean of Boys supplies kindly ad- vice and counsel. Mr. Arnold's ability to raise students from the depths of despair is truly amazing. His guid- ing principle is friendship and he exemplifies the spirit of friendliness for which Iefferson is striving. Because of his tolerance, good-fellowship, and understanding Mr. Arnold commands the confidence and respect of every boy and girl in Iefferson. :bm ay gm
