Administration Mr. Mair Mr. Olson When school began in August, the students and staff welcomed a new principal, Mr. Dennis Mair, who shared with Mr. Olson the monumental task of developing normal, daily routines in the uncompleted new addition. Despite the inconvenience of unfinished classrooms without desks, chairs and blackboards, these two capable administrators soon created an orderly atmosphere and the entire student body and staff adjusted quickly to the presence of workmen, plumbers, electricians, and contractors. Even the increase of enrollment from 580 to 830 with the addition of the ninth grade did not present any major problems. After the completion of a successful first semester, students and faculty pooled their ideas to revamp the IR program. The name of the program was changed from increased to individual responsibility. Mr. Mair was instrumental in helping everyone adjust to a difficult, unsettled year. A serious illness, however, prevented him from completing the school year. Administration 17
