National Honor Society .. . Student Council ... The spring installation of the National Honor Society was held on the evening of April 29. The ceremony honored the 8 reelected seniors and 13 newly elected junior and senior members for their outstanding achievements in the areas of knowledge, leadership, character, scholarship, and service. Bart Lia, Master of Ceremonies, gave the welcome and spoke briefly regarding Plato, his philosophy, and how it pertains to our society. Other reelected members were than introduced and participated in the installation ceremony. Guest speaker Dr. John Pearson spoke about the talent of the members and how they should put it to use in our society’s future. Candles symbolize the five virtues of NHS. Besides selling candy, Student Council had two other successful money raising projects. On Valentine’s Day, they played Cupid and delivered red, pink, and white carnations (sometimes all three) to surprised students from their secret and not so secret admirers. They also sponsored an exciting acrobatic circus which performed in the gym on May 22. Pictured to the left are the student council members. Standing are B. Mercer, D. Didion, P. Olson, B.
