J Staff . . . The Spirit of '76 idealizes the characteristics of the American people, past and present. For this reason, editor Mary Hammes and the J Staff decided for the Bicentennial year to portray Jefferson’s Gemuet-lichkeit heritage in our school, our community, and our country. Two local civic organizations displayed their own Gemuetlichkeit spirit by financially contributing to J Staff. The Rotarians and the Business and Professional Womens Club sponsored Ellen Landowski. Sharon Schroedl, and Debbie Wedl to a summer workshop in Ripon. On behalf of the staff, Mary Hammes paid tribute to Principal L. Gene Wilson at the Scholastic Assembly by presenting him with a pictorial album highlighting his years of service to the school. J Staff. ROW 1: S Schroedl. C. Wilson. Miss Marshall. M Hammes. J. PEN Staff .. . For the first time in many years the students of JSHS reaped the benefits of having an accomplished photographer as the editor of the PEN. This photographer editor, Steve Lehmann, and co-editor Diane Petrick put together nine monthly issues with the assistance of a young and enthusiastic staff. Mr. Stolten-berg, the PEN advisor, helped to shape the unusually pictorial as well as highly informative newspaper. The PEN presented an additional new look with the inclusion of a feature article entitled A Salute to ... It was designed to give special recognition to teachers and students for their various contributions to the school. Junior Carl Finney and sophomore Diane Springer have consented to accept the challenge of developing additional innovative ideas by sharing the 1976-77 editorship. Mr. Stoltenberg gives the staff a few pointers.
