J Staff . . . The Spirit of '76 idealizes the characteristics of the American people, past and present. For this reason, editor Mary Hammes and the J Staff decided for the Bicentennial year to portray Jefferson’s Gemuet-lichkeit heritage in our school, our community, and our country. Two local civic organizations displayed their own Gemuetlichkeit spirit by financially contributing to J Staff. The Rotarians and the Business and Professional Womens Club sponsored Ellen Landowski. Sharon Schroedl, and Debbie Wedl to a summer workshop in Ripon. On behalf of the staff, Mary Hammes paid tribute to Principal L. Gene Wilson at the Scholastic Assembly by presenting him with a pictorial album highlighting his years of service to the school. J Staff. ROW 1: S Schroedl. C. Wilson. Miss Marshall. M Hammes. J.
