MR. WAYNE HARTWIG The music department was composed of Mr. Jewett and Mr. Hartwig. Mr. Jewett had charge of all vocal music, while Mr. Hartwig directed all instrumental music. History, international relations, economics, sociology, and geography were some of the subjects taught by the social studies teachers. MRS. CAROL MILLER MRS. MARY JOSEPH MR. WILLIAM NODOLF The business courses were instructed by Mrs. Joseph and Mrs. Miller. This was their first year at Jefferson. Mrs. Joseph taught Typing I, clerical office practice, and secretarial office practice. She also served as the advisor of the Business Club. Mrs. Miller taught bookkeeping, Typing II and Shorthand I. Mrs. Miller was the annual advisor. MR. DONALD HOFFMAN Mr. Nodolf and Mr. Hoffman taught mathematics this year. Mr. Nodolf instructed geometry and advanced mathematics. He was the track coach and school bus schedule coordinator. Algebra I and advanced algebra were taught by Mr. Hoffman, who also was the advisor of the Camera Club and sophomore class. 8

MR. VINCENT UA MR. EVERETT AUSTIN MR. HENRY LAU Mr. Jeffery taught drafting and Woods I, II. He was also the timekeeper at athletic events. In Mr. Lia's art classes, interest was shown by his students in many projects, including sculpturing, sketching, and painting. Mr. Lia's favorite pastime was making pottery. He served as the junior prom advisor. Mr. Austin taught Metals I at the junior high school. Many boys rushed between schools to get to metals class on time. Mr. Lau taught agriculture and advised the FFA chapter. 10
