Miss Marshall gladly accepts them. Now Is The Time For Our Second In September of 1966 Fabian Cadena Rodriguez graced the halls of Jefferson Senior High School with his presence. He came to us from Quito, Ecuador. At first it seemed strange to be attending school with girls and odd not to be able to take a siesta in the afternoon. But Fabian soon became as with it as any other student from Jefferson. Fabian made his American home with Dr. and Mrs. Paul Never-mann and family. A.F.S. Student Fabian stands with his new brothers , Jim, Craig, and Tommy Nevermann after the assembly. There is a time to teach. . . There is a time for all things. The 1967 J is dedicated to a man who has certainly found time for all things, serving us in every capacity. He has instilled within us a sense of pride in our lives, our school, and our community. Giving freely of his time, he has assisted us in our development as well-rounded individuals. We, the senior class, of Jefferson Senior High School proudly dedicate the 1967 J” to Mr. Wilson. 4 JOHN BAUCH JOHN HICKEY School Board EMMA SCHULTZ Officers for 1967 President Mr. John Bauch Vice-President Mr. John Hickey Secretary-Treasurer Mrs. Emma Schulz NOT PICTURED Mrs. Emily Beyersdorf Mr. L. Coming anti going at different times of the day, drivers maintained a very busy schedule this year. Neither rain nor snow, nor sleet nor hail, nor dark of night kept them from delivering us, their passengers. Bus drivers not present when picture was taken: W. Buske, F. Hutson, H. Schrantz, Mrs. Anfang, M. Bass, Mrs. Bass, J. Schafitzel, J. Shannon, L. Vande Zande, Mrs. Stewart, A. Schrantz. The cooks prepared all the meals for the hot lunch program. The meals were different and interesting, as could be seen by the many empty plates at the end of the noon hour. Our janitors once again made us proud to come to school each day. They kept the school spotless and still had time for any little job that had to be done. There is a time to begin. . . s o p H O M O R E S M. Lehmann R. Buchmann Secretary-Treasurer President W. Mode Vice-President With nervous anticipation, the sophomore class passed through the portals of Jefferson Senior High School in August of 1966. Timidly they sought status and recognition--joining clubs and participating in class projects finding their niche in the patterns of student activities. They, too, found there is a time for all things. Now they were the school's fledglings and found it necessary to await their turn in passing to assembly programs. K. Abendroth M. Barnes B. Baumann S. To challenge students to become aware of the new problems the world faces each day was one of the purposes of debate. The problem taken up by this year's debaters concerned the idea that the foreign aid program of the United States be limited to non-military assistance. The debaters were divided into two main groups: the affirmative which was for the issue and the negative which was against the issue. The debaters were coached by Mrs. Margaret Dunkle and prepared all of their informative material after school. In the first year of debate Jefferson's position was fifth in the conference and ranked second in total speaker points. The team having the best overall win-loss record was Donna Streim and Kathy Probst. The team had 34 wins out of 66 debates. In the A division there were 3 wins and 9 losses, the B division had 10 wins and 8 losses, and the C division had 21 wins and 15 losses. 28 Clem shakes Reverend Hawkin's hand. These girls helped boost the morale at the pep assemblies and athletic events. They also sold colorful maroon and white pom pon shakers in the fall to add zest to the football games. The officers included Betty Heussner, President; Janice Ganser, Vice-President; and Linda Streich, Secretary-Treasurer. Mrs. Sharon Powell was the active advisor. 30 Janie shows the Eagle spirit. G.A.A. Has Active Participation Physical fitness was stressed in this year's program of the Girls' Athletic Association. Certain standards were maintained including supervised physical activities where total points were accumulated. A Play Day, held every year, was well attended by all Badger Conference schools. The G.A.A. was responsible for the delicious malts made available to us throughout the year. Officers of the organization for 1966-67 were Donna Piek, President; Jane Reese, Vice-President; and Vicki Dobereiner, Secretary-Treasurer. Mrs. Sharon Powell was the group advisor. F.F.A. Publishes A Calendar The Future Farmers of America once again had an eventful year. One of their main projects was publishing a calendar which advertised the chapter to Jefferson businessmen. Various methods of farming including ways to improve the crop yield were discussed at the meetings. The organization also sponsored a basketball team which played other F. F. A. chapters from the surrounding area. The officers were: Dennis Dabel, President; Wayne Petty, Vice-President; Gary Gerondale, Secretary; Roland Altreuter, Treasurer; Dale Walton, Sentinel; and Bruce Lippart, Reporter. The Student Council, under the direction of Mr. Follensbee, had another busy year. Besides selling candy, the members bought a new juke box for the cafeteria and kept it well stocked with popular records. The biggest hi-lite of the year was the computer dance with music by the Centaurs. The council also put on a talent show featuring our own school talent which they hope will be an annual event. 33 IT-lZfiflE F.H.A. And Librarians The duties of the student librarians for the year were to take roll, check out books and magazines, and keep discipline. Special duties given to individual librarians included typing, filing magazines, and keeping the scrapbook intact. A banquet was held at Judd's on May 8, and pins were awarded at that time. The Future Homemakers of America were one of the most active organizations at J. S. H. S. The club met monthly on Tuesday evenings and saw many demonstrations. In order to join F.H.A. you must be enrolled or have taken a year of home economics. Officers were: Kathy Ambrose, Pres.; Lillian Farnsworth, Vice-Pres.; Sue Wedl, Sec. ; Holly Blanyney, Treas. ; Mary Reichert, Historian-Reporter; and Chris Ganser, Song Leader. Under the guidance of Mrs. Barnes, the officers guided the F.H. A. toward the state and national program of work: individuality counts, tapped new talents, morals and manners matter, and your neighbors near and far. FIRST ROW: C. Miller, M. Reichert, R. Key Club The Key Club, a branch of the local Kiwanis Club, was composed of several fine young men. Every month the club selected a Junior Kiwanian, the highest honor obtainable in the Key Club. The membership process was similar to that of a fraternity. The standing members studied applications for membership and then chose the applicants most worthy of belonging. Officers for the year were President, Larry Montgomery; Secretary, Frank Remfrey; and Treasurer, Tim Tully. Mr Olson served as club advisor. We're proud of our Junior Kiwanians! The members were given a choice of nine categories in which they could compete. Nineteen students participated in the local forensics contest. After competing at sub-district and district levels, eight of the nineteen had the honor of going to state . The cafeteria was decorated with murals, straw huts, and palm trees while the mall featured feline creatures and a large Tiki head. Under the direction of Mr. Lia, Chairman Tim Tully, and Co-chairman Sandy Thurston, the junior class worked diligently to make Tiki a success. Mr. Wilson announces each couple during the grand march.
