Al4Sl'QN'l'Z lmlmlil Milli-r, lin-my Miitli, lialliiyiiv XXMIL-ll, Small 44g Who? The Freshmen? Sure! Why they're the kids who come to school the first day looking half-scared to death! They're good kids . . . once you got to know them, you liked 'em a lot! The first day of school . . . scared plenty. If only someone would try and be friendly . . . or something. But that was silly . . . everyone was being friendly! It was only the strange- ness of the place that made us lose our nerve. But somehow . . . that feeling went away after a few days . . . and we were sure we were going to like high school, after all. We got to know each other . . . and found some very good friends among the kids. Football? Yep! That was no problem . . . except for the girls who had never seen a f'ootball game before. Boys literally threw themselves into the game . . . wouldn't talk any- thing but football. Tommy Endl and Jerry Stauss got on the A team . . . lots of the other Freshmz.n boys made the B team. Natch, there were class elections . . . when all the voting was over, we found that we had some pretty good kids in office. Eddie Ilager, our cute President . . . John Fischer, our happy- go-lucky Vice-President . . . and Jo Ann Higgins, our pretty and full-of-fun Secretary . . . what more could a class ask for? Class party was meant to try and help us get better acquainted . . . most of us thought we knew everyone . . . but we changed our minds after the party was over . . . found out we still had some growing up to do. Student Council elections were next . . . outcome just good . . . Barb Clark and Jo Ann lliggins . . . Bob Enking and John fSkinnyJ Urban . . . were elected to represent our class . . . again we were proud of our choice. Basketball? You know all about that, of course! Especially if you go to Jefferson Iligh . . . we aren't forgotten there either . . . evident the Freshmen were needed . . . two boys were hard to beat . . . Lyle Crotteau and Eddie Hager. Romance ? Freshmen? Well, the basketball season was over . . . spring came just around the corner . . . so why not? Baseball? The game everyone loves . . . if you don't, you will . . . if you go and see a couple of those games. The Freshmen get in on that, too. Then comes the end of our first wonderful year. It's hard for us to leave our friends . . . some of whom we may not see for quite awhile. But always remember . . . there's next year, and the next . . . and finally the next. So look forward to that vacation, kids.
