SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We live in the present only remember the past and anticipate the future.” This is the motto of the 1967 graduating class. Graduation is a time for last minute finishing of all undone work and preparing for college and the future. It is also a time to think in retrospect about the past. We began our Freshmen year as the uncertain greenhorns.” In our first year, we encountered a mountain of hard work, especially in Latin and Algebra, but we also found time for outside activities. The girls were inducted into Y-Teens and initiated into G.A.A. It was also time for joining the marching band, and for the boys, sports. Sometimes, these activities seemed more like work than pleasure, but we were immensely joyed to be included as part of the high school. Being part also meant being able to attend high school dances for the first time. As Sophomores, we took on heavier schedules, which for many included five subjects. The girls were especially thrilled with dissection in biology. Even with this extra work, we were able to participate in more activities. Many entered choir and boys lettering in sports were introduced into D-Club. Our Junior year and our class rings have finally » ! 12 I arrived! For a few though, it was only a quick look before exchanging them with someone special. In November, we presented the play, The Mouse That Roared.” In the spring, we planned the Junior-Senior Prom— April Showers.” Although the theme was built around showers, we had a beautiful night for the prom, and it was a great success. Finally, the year we had so long awaited had arrived! We now became Seniors and took on the responsibilities of being the leaders. Setting a good example for the underclassmen was the biggest of these. One of the greatest challenges faced by the Seniors was passing a new course—economics which was included in Civics. In late spring the class presented the play, Turn Back The Clock.” Although it came at a time when we were busy getting ready for graduation, we worked very hard and it was tremendous success. As the year came to a close, the Class traveled by bus to Defiance for a class picnic. Everyone enjoyed eating fried chicken and playing baseball. On May 29, the Class of ’67 was graduated. Now it is time for the Seniors to leave Jefferson. As we leave, we take with us many wonderful memories of our years at D.H.S.
