They learn the many duties of a librarian and try always to be polite, courteous, and helpful. The library contains 3668 books and subscribes to All magazines. Also avail- able are encyclopcdias, maps, and reference materials. The library was given in memory of Anna M. Welch and dedicated to the Delphos Iligh School boys and girls. It was later enlarged in 1935. A. boys respond: To practice brother- hood, honor rural opportunities and responsibilities, and develop those qualities of leadership which a Future Farmer should possess. This is why the future farmer organization exists. By working and co-operating with others, the F. F. A. boys practice brother- hood. They have responsibilities on the farm, care for their livestock each day, and work with their crops in the spring and summer. They become leaders in their community, their country, and our world. A Future Farmer should posses these characteristics. Our chapter participated in many events during the year, in- cluding parliamentary procedure contest, public speaking con- tests, and judging contests. 25 Wd Larry Barnes, Sara Burgess, Tom Beerman Carol I oetz Seated: Miss llenninfg RE-ECHO . . . productlon pllllllfdtlllll Editors - Sara Burgess, Larry Barnes Bus. fvlgrs.-Tom Beerman, Carolyn Loelz Artists - Florenz Vasquez, Beth Kraft, Carolyn Meeker, Phyllis llall Columnists 8: Reporters - Dick Thomp- son, Jo Ann Baumgartner, Judy Graham, Betty Poling, Sharon Shaw,Kay Pollock, Lewis Place, Susan Kissell, Dorothy Bryan, April Nlewhorter, Karen Kalinsek, Philip Lucas, Patty Compton Production - Anita Slant, Rita Wallerz, Juanita Miller, AlVera Claypool, Ronnie llrenneman, Calvin Fruend, Sandra Thi!- off, ,lack Staup Typists - joan Shafer, Carol Noyer, Sue Ann liame, Roberta Piulitt, Janet Brenne- man, Beverly Schimmoller, jo Ann Pit- senbarger, Judy Truesdale, Joyce Ann Jones, Sally johnson, Wilma Drucke- miller Phyllis Hall, Carolyn Meeker, Beth Kraft, Florenz Vasquez TOP PICTURE: Sandra Thitoff, Rita Wallen, Juanita Miller, Ronnie Brenneman, Calvin Fruend, jack Staup, AlVera Claypool. It was a very impressive service with each new member taking the Y-Teen oath by promising to uphold the ideals of the organization. December 7 proved to be one of the most excit- ing evenings of the school year. Shangri-La was the theme of the annual formal dance. The dec- orations were in beautiful oriental colors and styles. Carl Beech provided the music for danc- ing and intermission entertainment was presented by Y-Teen groups. Mrs. Bucholtz was guest speaker at a tea in the Spring. She told of her exciting experiences in New York on T. V. After many such enjoyable meetings and parties, the Y-Teens closed the year with the annual combined Y-Teen and G. A. A. picnic. Late in the fall the musicians traveled to Findlay where they presented a concert to an audience of college students. On December 1 the chorus with the girls glee and ensembles and solos presented the annual Christmas Program. A musical high- light was the District Music Festival on February 1, when Jefferson was host to a 280 voice district chorus, including sixteen of our own vocalists. Ensembles and soloists clirnaxed months of hard practice by a fine showing at District and State Contests. On March 22, the chorus and glee club went to District Contest at Bluffton, where they turn- ed in an excellent performance. After a fine spring concert, the choir rounded out a busy year by singing at Baccalaureate. Once initiation is over the club steps into full swing for a busy year. lntramurals, hitpin, volleyball, and basketball are the sports thc girls excell in. The band then formed its concert counter-part and plunged into the music for the Christmas Concert, which was given on December 15. On February 1, twelve of our band members were privileged to play in the orchestra and band of the District Music Festival. The dance band provided music for many school dances, and the intermediate band played for the class plays. Jefferson was well represented at the district ensemble contest.
