NIV. Imvul A-ull, 1lll'l'4'l4lI'. Band . . . There's something about a hometown Band Yes, there is something about a hometown band. The rythm of the drums, the high stepping feet, and the Hash of red and white uniforms, all remind us of the football half time shows that we practic- ed so long and hard to put on. Our new director, Mr. David Zoll, renewed that old spark that charged us right to a superior rat- ing at the District Contest. VVe really blew the roof off of the hall when the judge heard us play Marcho Poco , Moods Americana , and Pleas- ent Valley . Our year wasn't all work, We were rewarded by a trip to Columbus and saw the famed Rose Bowl winners defeat the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Band page wouldn't be complete without recognizing that wonderful organization, the Band Mothers. While the band Was out performing and the football team playing its heart out, the mothers were selling hot dogs, pop, and pop corn, so that we could have new uniforms and instruments. Through their combined efforts, we enjoyed our annual party. This year we were decked out in levis and plaid skirts. 'The Ole Chuck Wagon was the theme. Hats off to the Band Mothers! ..22...

This was the second consecutive year we received a super- ior rating and we are very proud of our achievement. Much credit should be given to lVlr. Herbert Gruenkc for this is also our sec- ond year under his direction. Although the music contest was the fruit of our year's work, we were also busy through out the year with such projects as our Christmas Cantata, Spring Concert, church visitations, and several school assemblies.
