CLASS MOTTO- Faith, in this sign we conquer! CLASS FLOWER - Red Rose CLASS COLOR - Royal Blue and Grey Senior Class H isfory The year 1950 marked the entrance of the class of 1954 into the hal- lowed halls of Delphos High School. We were blessed with an abundance of boys through whom we were to excell in athletics. The girls, though small in number, through their undying zeal and ambition were the back- bone of our social functions. However, we were not only proficient in extra curricular activities, for one-fourth of our class received the highest recognition given by our school for intellectual endeavor. Let us scan our four years briefly, and enumerate our accomplishments. Our freshman year we honored live classmates by electing as class officers: Ruth Heiss, presidentg Carol Shaffer, vice presidentg Frankie Jen- kins, secretary, Denny Stienecker, treasurerg and Dick Berry, historian. We started the year with a bang by attending our first formal, the Y-Teen Dance. Before the year was hafl over, we had copped the Freshman tourna- ment basketball crown. and hld an imprssive 9-2 record. Four of our musicians went to the state ensemble contests, as did those in the band. During our Sophomore year we were entirely male goverened. Jack Miller was president, Larry Patzer, vice president, Denny Stienecker, sec- retary, Don Higbea, treasurer, and Frank Vasquez, sergeant-at-arms. Eight boys earned varsity lettersg nine girls were in G. A. A., and seventeen in Y-Teen with two on the cabinet. We also participated in the Science Club, then in its second year. 16

With the beginning of our Junior year, Larry Patzer was presidentg Jack Miller, vice presidentg Naomi Fought. secretary: and Marie Buckles, treasurer. This was a big year for the class, as we were to give our first class play and sponsor the prom. Both, the play, Home Sweet Homicide . and the prom, Paradise Beneath the Sea , were great successes and a lot of fun. This year five boys and four girls were inducted into the National Honor Society. Again the music makers went to State, for the fourth con- secutive year. We were now in our fourth year of high and chose Carroll Davey to lead us as president. Ruth Heiss was vice presidentg Carol Shaffer, sec- retaryg Melvin Hoover, treasurer: Dick McFearin, sergeant-at-armsg and Denny Stienecker. historian. The football team started off the year by winning the Conference Championship. In January four seniors won top honors in the County Scholarship tests, Jack Miller and Melvin Hoover taking first and third. Another senior girl was taken into the Honor Society bringing the senior membership to ten. one fourth of the class en- rollment. The basketball team won the Exempted Village Championship and then went on to be runners-up in the district. The Class play. Annie Get Your Gun . was another highlight. The Juniors entertained us with a beautiful Prom, Springtime In Pairs. We ended our high school with a fervent hope that we might meet life with equal success.
