CLASS MOTTO- Faith, in this sign we conquer! CLASS FLOWER - Red Rose CLASS COLOR - Royal Blue and Grey Senior Class H isfory The year 1950 marked the entrance of the class of 1954 into the hal- lowed halls of Delphos High School. We were blessed with an abundance of boys through whom we were to excell in athletics. The girls, though small in number, through their undying zeal and ambition were the back- bone of our social functions. However, we were not only proficient in extra curricular activities, for one-fourth of our class received the highest recognition given by our school for intellectual endeavor. Let us scan our four years briefly, and enumerate our accomplishments. Our freshman year we honored live classmates by electing as class officers: Ruth Heiss, presidentg Carol Shaffer, vice presidentg Frankie Jen- kins, secretary, Denny Stienecker, treasurerg and Dick Berry, historian. We started the year with a bang by attending our first formal, the Y-Teen Dance. Before the year was hafl over, we had copped the Freshman tourna- ment basketball crown. and hld an imprssive 9-2 record. Four of our musicians went to the state ensemble contests, as did those in the band. During our Sophomore year we were entirely male goverened. Jack Miller was president, Larry Patzer, vice president, Denny Stienecker, sec- retary, Don Higbea, treasurer, and Frank Vasquez, sergeant-at-arms. Eight boys earned varsity lettersg nine girls were in G. A. A., and seventeen in Y-Teen with two on the cabinet. We also participated in the Science Club, then in its second year. 16
