Lilac Senior Class History On September 2, 1947, the class of Sl stepped into the halls of Jeffer- son as freshmen to begin our High School careers. The class officers were: Vice President, Lazaro Vasquez, Secretary, Nelson Sandersg Treasurer, Bob Knapp, Sgt.-at-arms, Robert McDonald. The majority of the girls joined the G. A. A. and Y-Teens organizations. Several girls were honored by being chosen to work in the library. Ramon Vasquez was honored by receiving his first football letter. Several boys earned their baseball letters. As the next September rolled around we found ourselves anxious and happy to take our seats along with the upper two classes. This year we elected as officers: President, Frank Sheeterg Vice Presidnt, Norman Fairg Secretary, Arlene Schramg Treasurer, Kenneth Metzgerg Sgt.-at-arms, La- zaro Vasquez. Six of the boys were initiated into the D Club. We studied earnestly and were promoted to sophisticated Juniors. After three months vacation, we were more than ready to resume our studies. One of the first tasks the Juniors undertook was the Re-Echo, which reported the news to the High School. Our first class play, Parents Are Like That, was a hilarious comedy and was very well presented. As a theme for the Prom, we chose the Gay Ninetiesf' The murals cleverly portrayed life in this era.
