The Monticello Chapter of the Future Teachers of America was organized in 1946 with Mr. Becker as adviser. The charter in the National Associa- tion was granted on February 3, l947. The F. T. A. was organized for the purpose of exploring the field and giving practical experience to those students who were interested in teaching. Meetings are held twice a month. At these meetings discussions are held regarding various colleges, courses to be taken, and other procedures in- volved in entering the profession. Each member is given an opportunity to teach a class, often substituting for a regular teacher who is ill. By this method, a student who has been somewhat undecided can more easily make his decision, and a student who has definitely made his choice can gain practical experience. The organization now has IO members. The officers for the year l947- i948 are: President, Betty Land, Vice President, Naomi Cress, and Secre- tary, Mary Jane George. fnx-YP'wINNslFwINXI N-lf'NslFxJ4'xJfNxJ4'xJ4'N-VFVNNJ4'xJfFi-V9NJ4'NJf9NIFuYFN.VNNIWxlFNl9NJfF'X
