On a September day in 1950, we, a party of adventurers, packed our bags and started out, little knowing if we would ever again see friends and home. Here we have a picture of ourselves as we were ready to bid farewell to all we held dear. That morning a number of dark forms were observed sneaking in the direction of The High School. Our caps were pulled low on our brovjs, and .Vitnesses testify that we, very plainly, hoped to pass unobserved. The timid ones were Juanita, Loretta and Eunice. Poor things 2 Mo vender, they were bathed in bashfulness l It was their first day as Freshmen. We began our freshman year with twelve other students. Hr. E. A. Long and our party of fifteen conquered the Freshman Land with little trouble. The way was easy, as the vines and branches were just beginning to gro w. The beginning subjects were Citizenship, Industrial Arts, Mathematics, English and Home Economics. They pre- pared us for the thicker parts of the jungle. During the journey through Sophomore Land, the jungle began to thicken. The branches became tangled with fciatnematics and English, but with the help of Mr. Long, we worked harder to clear the path to Junior Land. .ie reached Junior Land with a new sponsor and two new members. Vie were within a year of our goal, Senior Land, and with the help of Mr. 1’ . C. Hill, we learned to cope with the many hardships along the way V e began to accept more responsibility than in previous years. History 2 and Sociology were added to our studies. fell , at last, we reached the “Glorious Senior Land. That was the happiest and also the saddest day of the whole trip. In Senior Land we had a choice of three elective subjects, shorthand, typing and chemistry. Mr. Hill guided us through the Government Storm and started us toward the Biology Path. We have conquered the four lanes and now we must adjust ourselves to the outside life and began to plan for the future • If we work hard, we will fulfill our plans and achieve a lasting reward. The battle which we face today. Should be fought with the weapons of yesterday. Our weapons are physical and mental skill Which the foes of the first battle build. Our task, now, has just begun Toward the battle that must be won. We need some one to lead and guide. To where soma one is unsatisfied. It ' s not what we have, but what we use} Not what we see, but what we choose; Not what seems fair, but what is true; Not what we dream, but what good we do.
