We have learned to turn to these people for advice in making our decisions and for aid in meeting our problems. Each year the Archives staff considers many of these people and fi- nally choses one to whom we wish to dedicate our yearbook. We have selected, this year, a teacher who is a friend to all, one who has been with the school for many years, and one who always stands ready to be of assistance. lt is a pleasure to express our appreciation to this individual by dedicating the i966 Archives to her. But the honor of this position in our book is hardly comparable to the friendship, service, and consideration that is offered to each of us by Mrs. Patricia Vincent. . yfggqi . 1 fsyifff - ft ,-T ft 4 l ' 3 if V 'Soft Viv ' ' ii? -5. Planning for tomorrow makes Jeffersor The Jefferson District was organized in l947. lt was composed of the Sandy Creek School, Brest School, Webb School, and Stony Pointe School. Later the Masserant and Bom- ya District of Berlin Township were added to the new district. The Jefferson District provided educational facilities for children from Kindergarten through the eighth grade. A series of bond issues has been pass- ed to provide finances for growth and expan- sion. ln i955 a Junior High program was added. The last bond issue, for 52,000,000 was passed in May i959 and was used to add space to Hurd Road and to provide funds for a high school. The building of the High School came about as a result of the annual election in 1957. After a one year study by a special committee, a report was given to the Board of Education. A High School Curriculum Com- mittee was established bythe Board mem- bers in September 'l958. The Bureau of High School Service of the University of Michigan aided the Committee. The High School was completed for use in the fall of l96l andthe first senior class graduated in l963. Today the Jefferson District consists of ll,000 people and provides service for 2,200 students. A staff of 85 teachers and many others as well makes this possible. As of October l, l965, the Senior High has an enrollment of 468 of which 250 are boys.
