Planning for tomorrow makes Jeffersor The Jefferson District was organized in l947. lt was composed of the Sandy Creek School, Brest School, Webb School, and Stony Pointe School. Later the Masserant and Bom- ya District of Berlin Township were added to the new district. The Jefferson District provided educational facilities for children from Kindergarten through the eighth grade. A series of bond issues has been pass- ed to provide finances for growth and expan- sion. ln i955 a Junior High program was added. The last bond issue, for 52,000,000 was passed in May i959 and was used to add space to Hurd Road and to provide funds for a high school. The building of the High School came about as a result of the annual election in 1957. After a one year study by a special committee, a report was given to the Board of Education. A High School Curriculum Com- mittee was established bythe Board mem- bers in September 'l958. The Bureau of High School Service of the University of Michigan aided the Committee.
