Homecoming Happenings From the crowning of the queen to the last number the band played at the annual dance, Flomecoming 1969 was a pageantry of colorful and exciting events. Homecoming began with the selection of queen candidates and attend- ants. The nominees for the crown were: Becky Nelson escorted by Sergio Valderama, Becky Krafthefer escorted by Dave Rouillard, and Jenny Heegaard escorted by Kenth Anderson. Junior attendant, Diane Roth was escorted by John Fogg. Sophomore attendant. Cozy Olson, was es- corted by Dave Sheriff. Crownbearer, Craig DeJong, and Flower girl, Mary Farley, completed the Royal Court. The anticipation surrounding the coronation swelled until the ceremo- nies on Thursday, October 2. With Alan Stark serving as Master of Cer- emonies, the prospective queen and the other court royalty were ushered into the gym where the event was staged. The highlight of Thursday's activities was the crowning of the queen. Jenny Heegaard, by Mary Benesh, Homecoming Queen. 1968. Cindy Woodward sang the theme song, “Windmills of Your Mind. The evening’s festivities started with the parade consisting of the Roy- alty, foreign students, and club floats. It proceeded to Lincoln School where the bonfire was held. Friday night the Alexandria Cardinals defeated the Montevideo Mohawks, 42-26. During halftime. Queen Jenny and her Royal Court were again presented. Following the game, the Grasshoppers provided music for the dance concluding the activities for Homecoming 1969.
