JUU£ Last summer Julie Wasson spent two months living with a Finnish family in Tapiola. a city just outside Helsinki, in Finland Two weeks were spent staying at their summer home and traveling to and from Lapland Her family intro- duced her to raw fish, reindeer and the Sauna bath, and tried to teach her some of the difficult Finnish language During heF stay Julie picked cloudberries, chased reindeer, swam in the ocean, visited old forts, watched soccer games, and got a glimpse of Russian TV Julie's trip was sponsored by the Americans Abroad Program of AFS Julie's Finnish Family L. Randy CARDQ R4VEA GREAT 7-2 Led by captains Doug Drexler and Warren South- ward. the 1966 Cardinal football team proved itself to be one of the finest in recent years The Cards started the season with a 27-6 victory over Wheaton, followed by a 7-0 victory over Benson making it two in a row Riding high they came into conflict with one of the best teams in Moorhead’s his- tory The Cards fought hard but Moorhead defeated them 27-7 Bouncing back in full force they won four straight games. Willmar 20-14. Fergus Falls 33-14. Breckinridge 22-6. and the homecoming game with Glenwood 33-12 The Cards then met head-on with a fine St Cloud Tech team and lost 13-0 In the final game the Cards blasted Detroit Lakes 20-0 ending up the season with a 7-2 record and a 4-1 conference record giving them second place in their final year in the Resort Region Conference Co-captains: Warren Southward.
