Bonnie Smith and JoAnne McCarthy Thursday evening at 7 30 the royal court was named Bonnie Smith was crowned by last year’s queen. Jackie Spellman Mary was escorted by Steve Colby. The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams was presented November 4 and 5 under the direction of Eileen Habstritt It was a chal- lenging play for the four memberd cast, but they came through with flying colors George Schultz was Student Director, while Mr James Perdue handled the lighting Blow out your candles. Big Al Lupe Mora arrived from Loja. Ecuador, at the end of August Lupe was introduced to her new home by the Wasson family Lupe spent her study halls teaching Spanish to enthusias- tic friends, tried hard to under- stand football, insisted on lov- ing the snow, but not the cold weather, and found out how crazy American girls act at Beta meetings Lupe’s quiet and friendly ways will always endear her to us. 23 Lupe and her American sis- ters. Julie and Kay Wasson JUU£ Last summer Julie Wasson spent two months living with a Finnish family in Tapiola. a city just outside Helsinki, in Finland Two weeks were spent staying at their summer home and traveling to and from Lapland Her family intro- duced her to raw fish, reindeer and the Sauna bath, and tried to teach her some of the difficult Finnish language During heF stay Julie picked cloudberries, chased reindeer, swam in the ocean, visited old forts, watched soccer games, and got a glimpse of Russian TV Julie's trip was sponsored by the Americans Abroad Program of AFS Julie's Finnish Family L. Randy CARDQ R4VEA GREAT 7-2 Led by captains Doug Drexler and Warren South- ward. the 1966 Cardinal football team proved itself to be one of the finest in recent years The Cards started the season with a 27-6 victory over Wheaton, followed by a 7-0 victory over Benson making it two in a row Riding high they came into conflict with one of the best teams in Moorhead’s his- tory The Cards fought hard but Moorhead defeated them 27-7 Bouncing back in full force they won four straight games. Willmar 20-14. Fergus Falls 33-14. Breckinridge 22-6. and the homecoming game with Glenwood 33-12 The Cards then met head-on with a fine St Cloud Tech team and lost 13-0 In the final game the Cards blasted Detroit Lakes 20-0 ending up the season with a 7-2 record and a 4-1 conference record giving them second place in their final year in the Resort Region Conference Co-captains: Warren Southward. The number of the places where each team member finishes are added together and the team with the lowest total wins the meet Jefferson Cross Country men participated in seven meets this year in addition to the RRC. Gwen Erickson Director: Doran Christensen ORCHESTRA The orchestra is a new addition to the Jefferson Music De- partment Under the direction of Mr Doran Christensen, the group gave its first public performance as a senior high music organization last fall They also played with the band and choir at the Kiwanis Concert in February Instruction of the orchestra members begins in the fourth grade, and the string players of the entire school system num- bers about 160 The orchestra, which this year was 35 strong, is expected to contain about 120 members eventually In the future the players will wear formal dresses and tuxedos at their performances Another aspect of the orchestra is a volunteer group of eleven members, the Rainbow Strings The group plays at meetings and functions in the community 46 SECTION LEADERS James Woolliscroft. violin. Jim Bloom became vice-president, and John Gilronen grabbed his pea- green ink blotter and took over duties as our secretary-treasurer Our class advisor was Mr Dziuk We whaled 'em over with our Homecoming float.
